  1. very old school indeed. was meant to be used on the old natural fiber ropes with the three strand braid.( houser braid?) however two cowboys at my work still use it so I geuss it all comes down to what your comfortable with.
  2. The bowline is probably one of the best knots out there, I've never had a hard time breaking the knot after heavy loading, and I've never seen one slip. I use it for almost all rigging applications, sometimes with an added half hitch. I use it for termination knots which I know I'll catch crap for it but like I said it never comes undone unless you want it to. also it can be tied easily with one hand after learning the technique. make a loop, pull a bite thru it, stick tail thru bite and dress knot.
  3. I use the micheocan and a hitch climber pulley, I'm not familiar with the skywalker.
  4. Hey steve, I'm some what new to this forum and not very computer savy. How do I make a general post or start a thread or what ever it may be called.

  5. Nice work. I curious as to why you use a strap and a clip to rig off pieces as oppose to just a running bowline, less things that could fail.
  6. I still use a basic setup, It's all preference. Don't be afraid to try new things, but that's not what's gonna make you a good climber.
  7. I use a pole to set lines, it's ok to have your rope over little brances (not too little) as long as it also goes around the trunk. then the weight is distributed.
  8. I've used a few different hitches now and my favorite is the blakes. I don't care much for the pully setup but to each thier own. try'em all
