  1. Thanks for that Mick we enjoyed it there with the cedars.

Just seen on arbtrader a Vermeer sc252 for sale at £5300 are they any good?

  2. Bandit hb20 sidewinder, I need to call the lad to confirm it yet just waiting for some money to transfer into my english account. BTW Mike I was not refering to you been too expencive in my coments when you did those stumps for us a few years ago you did us a good deal but your just too far away to use.
  3. Here are my thoughts for what it is worth as regards equipment. When we moved to france 10 years ago I came with a tipper van, chainsaws, climbing gear and thats it. I had to hire chippers at €230 per day and use a local guy to grind the stumps for me at €350 per stump (far too expencive) I charge €550 per day for two man team and then €230 for the chipper totaling €780 a day. We got work but not loads. now I own my own chipper (bank loan for €300 a month) and charge €550/€590 a day including the use of the chipper and we are booked up till end of Feb now. We are getting a new stump grinder next month and we have €1500 woth of work ready for this to do. My point behind all that dribble is never be afrade to invest, my moto is the more equipment I own the more I can do in house and the better I look. Also have good business cards and a good web-site these you can do yourself and not a lot of money.
  4. Hi Minotaur, we live 30 mins south of Bergerac, I think you go a bit more south west than that. You should move down especially if you parents have a place here. Its a good life, hard work but good.
  5. Ye they took a right bashing LOL. They were not bothered about the hedge, good job, made my job easier. Is there a spell check on this?
  6. I cannot understand why Stihl would make a plastic houseing TY I'm glad someone is making some money here, I seem to work my ass off all day five days aweek and then do quotes on a weekend and I never seem to have any money. MSA take €800 a month of me, the tax here is nothing really it's the social charges here that kill it. Dont get me wrong it's a better life here and I would never go back but its hard work. I think my problem is I'm on my own here, could do with a young lad from collage 3 days a week, might look into that. Thanks evenangelseatbeans & Maxnaggle for the info and photo, very helpfull. One more thing in favour of living down in the south west is the winters are very short and I get to raz my motorbike around these lovely quiet twisty roads:thumbup:
  7. H:001_cool:PE YOU LIKE THIS WE HAD FUN HERE THERE WERE 5 IN TOTAL WE DID [ame] [/ame]
  8. I know I should know but I dont so here goes, me making a fool of myself. What are needle bearings:blushing:
  9. I would not know as I have never owened a 260 all I know is its a lot lighter than my 440 I was using as a ground saw.
  10. Hi mate I bought the saw from Honeybrothers in England. Here in France they want €750 but I paid £417 + VAT (thats with £25 to deliver it here in France) but as I'm TVA rated here I got it zero rated (no VAT). I got the 45cm (18 inch) bar has it is for ground work to save me using my 440 all the time. I was using it all day today and it so light and perfect for nipping up felled trees. Hope this help. Mark:thumbup:
  11. I just wanted to say I luv my wife, my kidds and my new 261:biggrin: Its a dream to use, its so light and loads of power. 12. Hi, I am wanting to order a Bandit HB20 stump grinder and just wanted to know if any of you have bought one and are they any good? The price seems right at just under £7000 and they look good, I am hoping to deal with a company called Global Recycling. Are they ok? Thanks for your help and advice Mark:thumbup1:
  13. Weight not weght this thing needs a spell checker:blushing:
  14. I HAVE JUST SOLD MY T/W 150 TODAY SO I'M LOOKING FOR ANOTHER ONE. I need a chipper and only a T/W 150 will do, does anyone have one they could do with selling quickly? I have £6000 to spend but could go higher if its really clean and low hours. Thanks, Big M
  15. Ye I know mine is a tipper truck
  16. Sorry weght not wait der hard day yesterday
  17. I have a 140 transit and it pulls like a train no matter what wait is in it. Good luck I hate buying a new van.
  18. I can only wish to be that nimble up a tree, it’s more like gorillas in the mist when I’m up there thrashing around huffing and puffing LOL
  19. Hi Stuart,

Firstly thanks for your reply and been so detailed with everything, I appreciate the time, thanks. Your pricing sounds the same as we charge here and what you have said about what you can charge with the grinder is what I thought it might be. It’s just good to hear it from someone else who’s doing it already.

I had to laugh when you mentioned about you nearly getting the Navarra stuck in your field. It made me think of the time when Kevin (a mate of mine whom I work with some times) bought a discovery from England and when he got home thought it would be a good idea to show off in front of us all. He got stuck in his field strait away and had to get the farmer to pull him out.

If there is any info I can help you out with please just ask, I would be happy to help.

  20. Hi Stue,

Hope you hade a good day, I was doing a little pruning for an old dear today so loads of tea and a nice safe steady day.

I am putting a new page together on my web-site regarding stump grinding. Now I know in england they charge £???? per inch do you know what the going rate is here in france?

    Thanks Stue

  21. They are just incredible trees, great pictures thanks, did you know you can buil 60 6 roomed houses out of just one tree. I have never belived that until I saw your first picture, now I can belive it.
  22. Hi mate, you dont live too far from me. well I meen not too far as in 100s of miles, I sometimes get asked to work up near you but its too far. I woud be hapy to send you the detail if you like.
  23. Just a quick note about a new group I started if there are any more French tree bods out there:thumbup1:
  24. I think you would struggle with Flexable pipe as you need the support in a rigid pipe to go from the chipper to the van. so far it works really well and i have never blocked it although we have not tried wet conifer yet. although I think that would block the pipe like I block the toilet after a bowl of french prunes:blushing:
