  1. Has anyone used a silage grab on the loader to lift logs, obviously it wouldn't be much use on very large ones, but those 12"-15"?
  2. Rumours around that said farmer is now en EX tenant of NT.
  3. Moi aussi. Can't recommend it enough, not cheap but very well built, I am also doing 1m billets.
  4. Geogre Moonbat is a first class pot stirrer who will do/say anything to get readers attention. A lot of middle class socialites have had woodburners fitted in recent years because it salves their conscience about using a natural source of heat, if they actually use the bloody thing!!! I doubt they use it half a dozen times a year, then having it swept, decide it is better/cleaner using it as a room feature.
  5. I have been burning larch for over fifty years, best firewood you can get, first on an open fire then the last forty years in a woodburner. Yes I am an old codger!!!
  6. I'm looking for a new PTO saw bench and came across Gwaza, I've never heard of them before, are they a generic chinesium saw?
  7. Chap has been done for underage sheep-shagging.
  8. That is exactly what I'm after, some of the metre lengths are 600/700mm dia and are damned heavy to move around for this old codger.
  9. I am now splitting billets of around 1m lengths from sometimes big logs, some of them are b****y heavy. I would like to fix a cheap electric winch to the splitter to drag the lengths from the pile without putting this ageing back out. My question is, is it possible run the winch from a starter booster pack, or would it run down very quickly. Alternatively, could I make up a seven pin socket to plug into the tractors trailer socket? Would that have enough "juice?"
  10. You have obviously never owned a Leyland!! Brakes were an optional extra.
  11. Ah, I see now, there is a reduction gearbox. Costs almost as much as I got for the old Leyland!!
  12. Sorry I'm being thick, do you mean the saw's PTO shaft is connected directly to the engine, surely it should be indirect? Can you put up a photo/diagram?
  13. I'm afraid I don't have the skills to be able to do that.
  14. I've just got rid of an old Leyland which sat outside as I've no shed space for it, it'd be much easier to find space for a petrol saw. Electric might be an option. I should have said the PTO shaft was too short, not small.
  15. That tractor is used for other jobs, plus it would mean mean no hitching/unhitching the saw, I'm getting lazy in my dotage. The PTO shaft is also too small for the other tractor. So it's safe to assume that I should be looking at either a new or S/H well known make of saw.
  16. The stand/net in is in exactly the same position with regards to the camera.
  17. I'm looking for a petrol powered bench saw to cut billets, I want get rid of my tractor powered one, and came across this: NEW Petrol Log Saw 13HP WWW.HARTNETT-PRODUCTS.IE NEW Petrol Log Saws for sale from Hartnett Products. Never has there been a safer and more efficient way to cut lengths of... Has anyone bought/used one that can comment?
  18. Photoshopped. Never seen the moon with a vertical orbit.
  19. I've bought the AMR with it's own PTO pump, the 35 handles it well. I have even tried billeting the logs, I don't know if it involves more work than blocking and splitting right away, any one able to comment?
  20. I can't say I ever experienced any problems with knotty blocks, the only problems I found was the block sometimes flipped if you didn't present it to the screw properly, otherwise a great splitter for a small tractor like a TEF.
  21. I don't want a petrol powered or power pack because I already have a power pack, the 35. I used to have a Hycrack but it's slower than a hydraulic, although very useful on an old Fergie. I've gone with the AMR, but will get a table built for it, I know they are now banned from being sold by manufacturers, but they are great for working at waist height. Thanks for all the replies.
  22. I've been told, whether true or not, that a small pertrol engine won't produce the speed of a tractor powered pump, although I stand to be corrected.
