  1. Yes, Two 500 square external windows.
  2. This is one I am building at the moment not the biggest I'am sure. It measures just over 8 ft by 5ft, the beam I milled from an oak from my own land. It will be home to a Clearview 750 when completed.
  3. Can any kind person give me an approximate weight per cu metre of Sitka Spruce? (cord wood). Thanks in advance.

    MS200T Cylinder

Does anyone know if anyone supplies an aftermarket cylinder or complete with piston for the above? Thanks in advance.
  7. You might find 5.5HP a little under powered. 6KVA equates to nearly 6.5 HP. Keith
  8. I'm not an electrician but I think kva is the output, nothing to do with the phase. In other words you need a higher output generator, 3Kva is not man enough!
  9. Hi Ben For general work on a small holding. Keith
  10. Thanks for the quick reply. So you suggest I go for 80Plus hp, (that's a bitch,) but what make would you go for or is it much of a muchness? Thanks again. Keith
  11. A question for TRACTOR connoisseurs? I’m thinking of buying a second tractor, must be 4x4 60plus hp. What would you guys recommend for ease of maintenance and part supply, reliable? Low hours. About £7000 as a budget. Now I want you to realise this is an essential toy, I mean tool!! Keith
  12. Most of it is in rounds and already seasoned 95% hardwood ( Oak Ash Beech Prunus Etc) Collection South Mimms Herts PM me for price and collection details. Keith
  13. You can get the Morso ones from Harworth Heating on eBay for £29.99 Inc Vat and Postage. Keith
  14. Hi The attached photo is approx 10cu metres; this took 4 hours with the splitter in the picture. The wood was in rounds before I started, also should point out I don’t do logs commercially just for my own use. The logs are predominately oak, ash, beech, and hornbeam. 50% of the rounds were seasoned which slows it down a bit! Keith

Michael It’s not what I consider a fair price the market will decide. There is plenty of firewood out there starting at about £25 for a builder’s bag and its good quality and I know this because I collected three bags a few weeks ago for a friend, seasoned hardwood. The problem you guys have is that you are competing with firms and individuals who have wood as a by product they don’t pay for the raw material they split with an axe or maul and throw it in a bag, done. It doesn’t matter how much you spend on processors, cord wood, fuel etc you have to be competitive and I personally don’t think that £120 or even £140 per cube is. It no good saying because you’re more expensive it’s a better product because from what I’ve seen that argument just doesn’t stack up. I can see why it’s such an emotive subject because you are all trying to make a living but you will have to be competitive to stay in business. Keith

Just to let you know I have quoted you on the Designer Logs Thread.

Below is a Quote from Brendon on a similar thread. "Baz i know where you are coming from with that one mate as everything else is going up. Going off the percentages that you have given if i was quoted 315 quid for a level load of mixed wood in a tranny tipper last year (December ) usually i will do 2 loads then this years prices at a conservative estimate would be 350 probably more ,thats 700 just for the winter months ,my combined gas/electric would come nowhere near that , OK i am just bouncing figures around ,but i reckon i would not be far off the mark .If wood suppliers do start to charge that price people will stop buying it and just switch the gas back on , i personally wouldn't want to do that but i am afraid my finances would not stretch far" Which is exactly my point. Log supplier I did answer your question, I have no contact prior to selling or after. I sold logs as I enjoyed it which was the same reason I bought all the kit, it was never my main income. What you sell logs for is entirely up to you but you also have to accept that some businesses have logs as a by product and as such may sell them at a much lower rate. I don’t make the prices I simply look at what’s available. A tree surgeon does not pay for Arb waste it’s simply a by product so if he wants to process it into logs a sell them for £25 a bag that’s up to him or her. You only have to look on eBay, builder’s bags of Oak for £35. Keith

Dave Whether you think its viable is immaterial that’s what he sells a builders bag of seasoned hardwood for!! Keith

First of all my stoves are all sold on eBay. So no prior contact. Also seasoned hardwood is available from members on here for £25 a builders bag now!! And yes I have processed and sold logs so know exactly what’s involved. Keith

Dave I never said that £120 or in your case £100 was not a fair price I simply questioned whether it was sustainable! I do get my firewood for free. Even if you take in to account my kit and time it’s still very cheap and I get to choose exactly what species I want. Keith
