  1. I'm surprised that there was enough wall thickness to get it in - you wouldn't want to drill through that:blushing::thumbdown:

Interesting though, I guess the triple transfer just allows a change of scavenging & less fuel stacking but thought it may risk the exhaust gases being blown backward rather then upwards and down out of the port as normal. I know The MS200 benefits from more torque over the 020 from having split transfers - interesting stuff, guess it was a drill down through the cylinder and then breaking out in to the cylinder with a burr!

It's main problem is the chassis is large, the transfers are large, and not really designed well, so there's no velocity. Add in the fact you can't remove the gasket for more compression and less volume, and you just are not gonna get more top end out of this one unless you lathe it. The 7900 big brother has a much smaller chassis to displacement, and better designed transfers, for much better top end.

  2. Looking, I think it is an auxiliary transfer??

Yup, just an auxiliary. This thing has 6 ports. Which would be great if they were closed. But with open ports, it usually means loads of torque and not much top end, and that's a lot of what ya get here. Though she is quite a bit faster than stock, I didn't put her next to my 241 in the video - that thing has a screaming top end ;)

I just port matched the bottom of the jug to the chassis in the first pic. Raised the transfers a bit and played with their direction some, and removed the cat and the louvres from the muffler, and made the intake and exhaust more generous. The thing is built like a freakin' tank.

  3. I use pure rapeseed in all my saws, right up to the 42" on the 660. Have done for about 3 years, no issues so far.

I have a feeling those that have been having issues with veg have used other than rapeseed/canola, or maybe some of the newer bio oils. Personally, I have had no luck with any of the name brand 'bio oil'. They all are far too tacky, and gunk up like mad in dirty cutting. Rapeseed has the perfect mix of lubrication and viscosity, I find. But I use an air hose on my saw once a week at the very least, and between swapping bars if it's in the shop, so it's not likely to cake regardless.

  4. I use rapeseed, and have been for about 6 years now. Noticed no real difference from the change from mineral. Store it in the saw with no problems, but I have heard some folks have issues.

  5. Oh I'm interested, just can't afford it :(

I was thinking of asking just 500 for the PHO. The saw is fully rebuilt. But the carb started acting up not long ago, and I just haven't gotten around to replacing it. Although I believe an ultra sonic cleaner might do the trick.

  6. Bet that is messing with your playboy lifestyle, I thought I saw you in the pits at the Australian F1 GP with a hottie on your arm but may have been mistaken:sneaky2::lol::lol:

Just spent the day back here on the estate and it's even worse than I thought. And we've taken on more work load than we are really capable of. It's like they are punishing me for enjoying a mojito or two in the sun. See how they are?

  7. Blimey Wes - you parting with your baby? Thought you would be taking it down the aisle with you and becoming a couple:lol:

I am sure you will find a buyer soon, nice trick porting on it!

All hell broke loose whilst I was away... :( We now have a lot of work to do here.

  8. Hope Steve doesn't mind I step a bit on his thread here:

If anyone is interested in my Mastermind ported 044 with PNW wrap and high output oiler and high output clutch cover, let me know. I got a lot of stuff going on on the farm here, and I am going to need some cash soon. She needs a new carb, but is otherwise in great condition, pushing over 210 psi as is.

    Cheers,

    Wes

  9. Hah. That hotel is more show than go. Not unlike my first attempt at porting a 241cm. It's a brand new hotel with very low cost room offers right now, so I thought I would try it out. I do fancy having a wee with the office workers watching across the way there. Never thought I was such a pervo. Ah well.

    Er, Ah yeahh

  10. If it is left on idle and then before it cuts out, you rev it up, does it pick up cleanly or does it smoke?

Also, from stone cold, does it pick up from idle to WOT immediately or doesit need a minute or so and some coaxing to get there?

Just wondering if the L screw is a little bit out!

Acts perfectly fine. She feels like she's lightly ported even though she is factory. I have a feeling it's the coil. When it cuts of, it is as though she just shuts off. I am gonna check the wiring again to make sure I didn't miss anything and then try another coil. Will a 420 coil work?
