  5. sorry if any offence taken i by no means think your job isnt dangerous it prob one of the most dangerous jobs around and you have my full respect for your skill and dedication, its just the odd one who demeans the people like myself who just cut a bit off firewood without training, i for one would not have the guts to do your job and am not afraid to admit it!!
  6. i dont mean to come over as arrogant and appolagise if i do, but the thing is people CAN buy saws from B&Q ect, they will never pay for the correct training prob due to cost so is it not better to give them good advice rather than insults, NOT talking about the majority of arbtalk members?
  7. very sorry if i come over like that i dont intend to sound that way, must be the way i type but i do not try to offend:blushing: i am willing to listen to and appreciate any help and advice from pros but you must admit people saying they would like to film you having an accident then posting it on youtube is not very nice not to mention detremental to the forum, and very unprofessional, sorry if i offended anyone:blushing:
  8. couldnt agree more mate:thumbup:
  9. with all due respect when i was in the plant game i had to do refresher coarses for the CITB tickets every 3 years, lectures were from ex british leyland workers with no experience of heavy plant, just retraind to teach not a clue:lol:
  10. i dont get wound up me chilled more than a chilled thing:001_tt2: make sure you do a through risk assessment for your camcorder (electric shock, static discharge, repetative strain injury ect ) when you film my demise:biggrin: your prob is you think you work in the most dangerous game going, whilst it is dangerous its not the worst, so grow a pair go to bed and remove the HSE book from under your pillow cos you will get a crick in your neck and wake up in a worse mood tommorow:thumbup1:
  11. sorry you think i am paranoid, but i can assure i am not, i think it is probably you who is paranoid about amateurs useing chainsaws which are solely in YOUR opinion for pro use only :ie biggest baddest tools out there,as i mentiond earlier sound like a bit of a drama queen, chill out man:001_tt2:
  12. you sound like a man with a lot of common sence, something sadly lacking these days in nanny state uk
  13. you sir are a man after my own heart as for welding i was coded in mma, mig, tig & gas, never advised anyone not to use welding plant though
  14. as i have clearly stated before i now use full PPE and have a fair bit of experience ie 20+ years your quote: "well done for being alive" is a bit sad to be honest, it makes it sound like the chainsaw is the biggest badest tool out there, i know full well the dangers but i am not going to make myself into a drama queen with statements like "well done for being alive"
  15. yes i can remember first useing a saw, had no PPE and yep i felt safe enough, i am self taught, as in no formal training but did used to watch experienced users at work. your friend was he useing the saw at head hight perhaps triming roof trusses? just a thourght.
  16. i used to watch other people who had been around saws for years, then got my own saw and used it very gingerly, still am very carefull and im only useing a ms 181 these days but still treat it with a great deal of respect.
  17. i fully agree and respect your opinion anyone doing that deservs all they get:thumbup:
  18. Thank you,no insults were intended, but if any were perseved i appolagise, but deffo not for my spelling:001_tt2:

The same for "tree men" too. i do not feel my responce to the above reply is insulting ie he infers that i am stupid ect, i have worked in far more dangerous/risky environs than he prob will ever do,his quote" I only trust 2 people. One of them is me, and your not the other one" i find insulting, no probs though, its an open forum, sorry if i offended anyone:thumbup1:
