  1. yeah, shame we can't have an arborists union for these kind of occasions, a bit like when all the farmers blocked the fuel pumps with their tractors.
  2. when facebook seems a distant memory.
  3. when you eat dinner in front of arbtalk. as im doing now!
  4. Yep, too true, they'll have the money if you threaten legal action.
  5. do you have any written agreement? I never do any domestic jobs anymore without giving duplicated written quote, but understand emergency jobs maybe different.
  6. hmm pay up or you can have the artic of timber back- on top of your discovery. Very irritating
  7. I see. just thought they would too light to tow regardless of legality, but i suppose no lighter then the halfords trailers you see around! obviously I wouldn't be gunning it anyway. cheers
  8. i had a 254xp that once wouldn't start, thought i had tryed everything turned out to be the ignition, still remains a mystery why it suddenly stopped, put it on a radiator for the night and worked the net day so it might have been dampness? just a thought for yours.
  9. Can you tow a log splitter on the road (b roads) or are they just meant for moving about site?
  10. yep, I run a 28 inch on it, problem started last summer when I was ringing up an oak which makes me think its probably a bit clogged somwhere, tried engine oil for a bit cos its a bit thinner and that didn't make a difference, I think i'l strip her down!
  11. will give that a go. thanks
  12. Just thought i would stick my oar in! going back to the gate hanging pin arguement the gate should always hang of the top pin and pivot on the bottom thats why when you buy a hanging kit for a 12ft gate the driven pin goes on the bottom whereas the top pin bolts straight through the gate post, if it were the otherway round the driven pin would soon pull out, its all to do with triangulation, makes for a pleasurable gate opening experiance! so basically you should never turn over the top pin, but not because it would bend, it just goes against the rules of gate hanging!
  13. Hi as title suggests my 395 doesn't seem to lubricate the bar properly plus it hardly uses much oil, its rarely even half empty per full fuel tank, its only a year old and hasn't had excessive use at all. any explanations? Cheers, Matt ps. tryed the usual adjusting pump but doesn't seem to make much difference, cuts fine tho...
  14. Never used a rake on a digger, but they could be just the tool for scrub clearance, cut, rake it into pile and probably get quite a good load lifting it on to bonfire too? a chainsaw operator and digger/ rake driver would make 4 acres scrub look pretty silly after a couple of days, depending on density.
  15. but depends how boggy, obviously tracked machines have the lowest ground pressure but the digger arm is useful for a) pulling yourself out of the **** if you get a wee stuck. b) reaching over uneven areas. u can get digger flails too
  16. if its flailable, if not digger and grab and bonfire
  17. Id love to set up a booby tap for them, something that would cause them a great deal of pain and suffering , and me a lot of satisfaction, anyone any ideas? mind you, you'd probably be done for it by some backwards law.
  18. Oh, must have be taken of yesterday, someone sent me a link day before and it was still there, shows they are around tho at £3000 but obviously being a landy it would be older then l200 type thing for same price
  19. Hi ben, There was/is a landy tipper on ebay £3000 quite old but straight by the looks of things and fairly low miles. dont know if thats any use
  20. My old boss had a navara 07, the whole ordeal of loading logs was painful, oooh the paintwork, IMO these posh pickups are a bit precious for log work.
  21. If it were me and i needed 4x4 i would go landy 110 hi cap. if no 4x4 needed cabstar as you can get two loads in one go- less trips.
  22. yeah, nice landy, like the tool cabinet, but would fill the bed with chip v quickly and I think i would miss the extra bed space. thanks tho!
  23. Yeah, do that quite a bit putting chipper on trailer then coming back for it. Used to have a cabstar, bloody brilliant things on road specialliy around lanes as long as you don't make the mistake of pulling over too far to let some pass on one track roads then get stuck, a tad embaresing. i think il think make do with landy setup as it is, until I can afford seperate cabstar/chipper outfit, cheers for the help:001_smile:
