    Wood

Hi, I can see alot of you guys sell log wood well I dont and really dont have the time or the equipment to do it so I have a fair bit of timber that just gets chipped. I am in west norfolk and if any of you guys want the wood its yours. you would have to pick it up from my site on the days we are there working. some times we have large amounts so you might need a lorry or trailer. Pm if you want my number or intrested
  2. No not every job is a full day. also alot of the jobs have come off the back of others (if u know what I mean.) eg we were asked to clear one site for a customer and 2 other companys came over and had a look what we had done they asked us to quote on 10 more sites I also think that as we used big bits of kit and the other guys that bid on the job were going to do by hand and would take them 2 weeks and it took us 2 days so half the £££
  3. Hi Yer that price is plus Vat. and TBH the kind of cutomers that I target are not that fussed about paying Vat. I insure when I quote that I turn up looking smart with a clean truck dont baffle them with to much info simple stupid but dont talk down to them. (Sorry if i am telling you how to suck eggs) I really do think I have been very lucky this year and how long it lasts I dont know.
  4. 2010 was very good for us. As for 2011 so far its been good picked up a few more big customers and so far its looking good but I dont think I will hit my 6 month target of 135k. but I think the key is with every penny you earn is to use it well and make it last. there are plenty of ways to cut cost with out cutting saftey! As for finding new work on the slow days I spend all days ringing old customers and just have a chat with them and remind them that you still here. also I ask my wife to type up a really good letter/email (as i cant spell for crap) and sent/emailed all the people I think would use my service. I still think that there is loads of work out there but you have just got hold your head up high and go out there and find it becuase unless you spend £20k plus on ads etc.. they will not find you!
  5. Hi guys, New to the forum so just a quick hello from me Ed (will post in new members forum in a bit) As for pricing I charge £495 for 2 men (climber and grounds person with cs 38) Unimog with 9 inch chipper and normal gear. I have only lost one quote this year (out of 36) but if its a commercail it goes up a tad to £545. I always give a writtern quote as I think it sepertes you from looking like a cowboy! when I call the customer 3 days after sending quote and they say that its to much and found some one to do it for £250 I ask them if the other guy is insured etc.. and most of the time they call back and ask me to carry out the work. I also carry a folder in the truck with a copy of out tickets and insurance and show them when I do the quote. I hope this helps a bit Ed
