I have got the same problem our petrol thor magik is a good splitter but you got to bust a gut to move it. I have been looking at the posch road tow they do one with a diesel engine lot of money but its all so a lot of machine. It would be interesting to hear from others who have road tow machines 13t+.
if you look at the Thor splitter I think it would be an easy conversion to do a simple road axle for it with a drawbar

Very useful things!
it seems like a good way of getting rid of conifer how long does the one you pictured burn for

They say to keep the birds 'indoors'...
But does that mean in the coop only (they'll not doubt go stir crazy for 30 days if only in there), or can they still have their space scratching about in the run?
I have a few in the back garden, their run is mesh fronted with the roof covered with clear corrugated sheets, so I'm just wondering what an office pen pusher's meaning is when they say 'indoors'...?
no you have to actually keep them in your house let them have free run could you imagine the mess

You can build the material back up with suitable welding techniques (hardfacing).
It can be made as good or better than new.

whatever you do don't put a hard facing rod near a quick hitch they are in no way suitable for this use something like a 8018 or 7018 rod or if you use mig a wire with an aws code like 5.19 if you can use flux core wire try and get nittetsu 5.29 this is very good for these type of repairs I've done quite a few liebherr and geith and miller hitches with these materials if you don't want to go to the expense of line boring the hook just use a rotary grinder with something like a 40mm stone and finish it off with a flap wheel remember and chamfer the edges to stop cracks starting

Unless you are drilling harder material such as stainless steel where temperature can be an issue, cobalt drills offer no benefit over a decent quality HSS bit.
your as well with a decent hss drill like dormer than a shitty Chinese cobalt drill I found dewalt overpriced for its quality when it comes to drills I have found you get what you pay for reca is another decent make

Those big freight ships are really dirty and we need lots more of them so it's really important to clean up woodchipper emmisions.
cheers, steve
all the emission crap thats bolted onto the engines usually causes them to burn more fuel as well
-
would be handy even if it was to process down to a manageable size to handle

can you get a 50mm spade drill?

Glad to hear it's as fast as the pto version.
There are two silver lugs on either side of the machine where the control levers come to rest. I simply removed these and hey presto one hand enabled.
I found the leader control aspect a bit sensitive at times, the slightest bit of resistance on the guides (i.e. pine sap build up)and the ram would not extend and eventually got fed up and did the above.
I had a look at mines and if you just slacken the bolts going through the 2 lugs and turn them 180deg it goes past them allowing one hand operation

it can't be that its cutting out when the revs fall

had our old faithful 880 out to drop some pops today filled it with fuel as we always run it out as it doesn't see that much use fired it up no problem it will sit and run at high idle as soon as you let the throttle off it dies out I am thinking at this point choked jet in carb so gets back to the workshop strips off carb give it all a clean off and strip it and pop it in the ultrasonic for 1/2 hr gave it all a blow off and rebuilt it put it on and its still the same on this carb there is anti tamper screws so there is little adjustment in it for fault finding so with the anti tamper locks on it where should the settings be or do I remove them also what should the idle and max revs be or do I just fire a new carb on it any advice appreciated guys cheers
