  1. Evening.... I couldn't see a woodturning forum so its gone in here! I was inspired by a thread I saw the other day on woodturning (couldnt find it again) and have no idea where to begin? I would love to make something like small bowls (or big ones!!!!) gobblets and what ever else you can do. I was wondering if this is the thing I need to get to begin or am I totally wrong!? Wood Turning Lathe 36in.x12in swing,by Delta, manf. USA. on eBay (end time 16-Jan-11 21:36:10 GMT) Thanks for any advice and a few more pics of people's great work wouldn't go a miss!! Thanks:thumbup:

  8. I can see where crossing your arms is a danger but what about using both? Hold in the right cut with the left........Hold in the left cut with the right? or
  9. All in all I think the 'cut and hold' technique should be taught. At some point in 'most' people's career I think there is going to be a point where a step cut above a prize Greenhouse, roof, pond ect may go wrong so to hold the branch in a safe place and cut then throw away from obstacles would be better. If that method can be taught to people with a safe way to do it then great!! If not hundreds of people are still going to 'cut and hold' regardless as its quicker and some times easyer, time is money......
  10. I love the one of the two horses pulling such a huge amount of wood!!!!

  14. Hi, Thanks for the reply. by hoist I meant MEWP yea, What I was really after was whether I was allowed in the bucket (if I didnt have a ticket) on my own with a compent person on the ground with his Ticket and of course who would know the takedown procedure? As I said before this apply's to some chainsaw tickets so is it the same with this? Thanks
  15. Hi all, Just wondered if anyone knew the rules on using a hoist? I know when I took my CS 30 - 39 you were allowed to undertake the work under the supervision of someone who already has the ticket if you hadnt passed yours yet (in order of CS's). I was wondering if you could use a landy hoist under the supervision of somone competent who has the ticket if you dont yet have one?? Cheers for any replys:thumbup:
