  1. Has anyone mentioned to make sure the smokes not blowing towards the climber cause that's a right pita.

Using diesel soaked tyres and old oil's a bit 1970 for me, any black smokes a bit of a no no and petrols ok if in small amounts but doesn't really set a good example if the trainee's watching and thinks it's a good idea to chuck a bit more on when your backs turned.

  2. Pointers, right leg clamping the saw to my left leg. Left fore arm(sleeved preferably) resting on the bar serving to steady the bar and act as a guide for the file

Pretty self explanatory, key points here is only sharpen 2 or 3 teeth at a time immediately in front of the power head where theres no flex in the bar.

1st pic looks crack handed to me but obviously works, I've always done it clamped between my legs with the bar resting on a log on site but end up with chronic pins and needles and doing the ministry of silly walks till the bloods flowing again.

Much prefer a sturdy vice but also yet to find a decent method on site.

Filings in the eye ? Yep frequently😭

  3. Hi STEVE OURS is having that done Thursday I think it wrong mate thanks Jon

Mother in laws mutts got cancer in his danglies which apparently has caused another non cancerous infection in his kidneys, they can't whip em off now as he's weak due to not eating because of the infection, a vicious circle that may not have a positive outcome.

Apparently it's not too uncommon and obviously would have been avoided if he was done as a pup.

  4. Just thought I'd give Sarron a little bump here, We used him for a couple of days this week and he's well worth getting on board if you need a hand.

We had a load of tpo'd limes to work on and he did some nice tippy, leggy reductions for us over the road and multiple phone lines, turned up early and helped till the end.

Very pleased with all he did and a good contact to have.

  5. couldn't agree more mate, if anyone has one they can bring it to me and in return i'll make them some bowls from it.

Took a little one down this week maybe 12" diameter but it got rung up, there's possibly 8 sections about 10" but it did have a little hole right down the middle.

It's on the firewood pile at the mo but can be pulled if you want it.

  6. And the prize goes to . Anyone that said Leylandi. Not the English hardwood he tried to convince me they were.

    Leylandii ?

Bingo! What's the prize and do I have to share it with the bandwagon jumpers ?

Hope it's sawdust been missing that over Christmas.

  7. Yes it has thicker plastic, also a little strengthening bit and apparently it's a different compound of plastic.

As a shameless plug we have them for sale on the web site if you get stuck trying to source one. Just make sure it is the latest part from whoever you buy it from. I will post the part number up later on when I'm back on the pc.

A shameless link would be handy

    it's huge.

the article says it could have been brought to britain as early as 1630.

my original statement of it being 350 years old is incorrect though, they only think it's 250.

I was involved in the removal of one in dorking that was similar size to that one. Some one at the time said it was part of the first batch introduced to the country.
