    New vehicle

I'm looking to get a new truck this year later on and wanting some ideas for vehicles. Currently have a iveco 35c14 agile. It's been great for years but always worried about the weight limits and therefore the wear and tear on the van. I past my driving test in 97 just 4 months after they changed the class limits so contemplating getting a c1 test under the belt. What options are there for durable vehicles other than transits or ivecos with current licence? What are the pros and cons with uni mogs? Can you drive them on none c1 licences? Are they reliable? Expensive to repair? I also like the look of the izuzu trucks maybe a 5t truck? Anyway thanks for any help. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  2. I have a 55 plate iveco 35c14 agile which is basically the automatic gear box with tiptronic gear selection. Good van in general can pull some impressive weights. It recently broke down and after spending £1500 on replacing the clutch they have found that the ecu terminals and the relevant wiring loom connections are so badly corroded that we need to replace both making for a significant bill (1155+vat for ecu alone). No holiday for me. So after advice from a 10year iveco mechanic be cautious with the wiring. Cheers Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  3. I recognise that tree. Nice climb Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  4. Love to sawpod. Takes a bit of getting used to but been using it for nearly 3 years and like above it's never off when climbing. Good times --- I am here: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=55.911736,-3.133170 Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  5. Just used the stein PTT headsets today taking down a large Cedar. Best bit of kit I've bought for a while. Makes talking to ground staff really simple, more efficient and a lot more professional. Just the simple things like when a grounds man is using a saw and facing the wrong way just pressing the PTT button grabs his attention. Attaching a rope or saw to your climbing line means you can do other stuff while you wait. No more shouting, turning saws off to talk. We won't use them every single job but I would imagine they will get used on most climbing jobs. If you are planning to get some don't just get one headset and two radios, totally pointless and you'll end up not using them. Thanks to Andy at sgm for hooking me up and Nigel at fletchers for helping me very quickly. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  6. Ok got the ptt system and having a wee struggle setting the units up. Anyone got the perfect settings. I find sometimes that when you press the ptt button on the headset that it cuts out before you have finished the conversation. Help. Cheers
  7. I'm not sure that NFU now insure you or anyone to climb at all above a small height. Might be worth checking for future work.
  8. Hi. I was told to watch smaller rope with larger hands as it can create ligament probs in the elbows. Might be worth checking. Cheers Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  9. ok I think I've aged about 50 years watching nosak. Stress
  10. Wait till reg sees the crane work almost as bad as the cedar student vid. Lots of one handed top handle use, quite skilled to make a gob on a large stem using a top handle one handed whilst propping yourself up with the other hand. No ppe to speak of. Infant I'm gonna have to stop now. I'd be embarrassed to put myself and company across in such an unprofessional way. Seems that all you need is a couple of matching shirts and a crane and your away. No sympathy if he or his "team" hurt themselves. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  11. You can tell he's not really used a saw being all shaky with it. It is scary to think that someone watching it trusts his demo through and though. All he needed to do was to call a local tree surgeon and for them to demo the basics so that it was close to being ok. Lucky he nudged the tree as it started moving. Mental. 12. This is a guy called bob Vila. He's some celebrity tv handyman dude. Someone should have shown him at least one fell before he went on tv and cocked it up sooo bad. Funnyhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6N6rViWIzVY&feature=youtube_gdata_player

    Lucky man

I love to comment from the narrator "professional tree trimmer". I'm sure that's right so long as he's on the ground with a set of loppers. Great how in all the chaos he still had time to park his saw in a fork to make sure no one below could get hit by it. I'm sure that was in his site specific. Nice.

    What rope?

Hi. I've been using a XTC fire 13mm and spiderjack for a while now and want to try a new rope. I have fairly big hands so lean towards using the bigger diameter rope but keen to find a rope that works well with the spiderjack. Any suggestions? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  16. Dos anyone have pics of the set up regards to the cables.? Also what's the best way of keeping a hold of the radio on the ground if you only buy one headset? Do people attach it to their shirt it would just be good for the groundsman not to worry about picking it out the pocket every time they need to speak to the climber.
