  1. We have a tr6 bought brand new last year it has barely done any work approx 200 hours, I have noticed a few shitty corners that seem to have being cut, just wanted to know if anyone else had noticed anything.?

1 of theWashers that holds the hopper on has being cut down to fit, as though they had run out of the correct ones!

The bolts that hold the side cover on don't and never have lined up properly, when I first took it off 1 of them was forced in on the piss!

And I have just noticed today the bearing that holds the top roller on and the bearing that goes on the flywheel shaft are touching, I thought something had broken so we used the bar forst provided to open the rollers to have a look, it looks like someone had dropped a bollock and has chipped a lump out of the flywheel bearing to allow the top roller to come down without touching the flywheel bearing! Where the bearing is chipped has being painted forst orange so I know nothing has moved and or changed since its left the factory!

It was over 30 grand this machine, we don't abuse it and always keep up with maintenance, to say it was so expensive you'd expect everything to be perfect! Unless someone can tell me it has being manufactured this way I doubt I will buy another!

  2. That is a vast amount to spend on a truck that's not really for for purpose. The lorry you could have built for that or even with change would have been amazing!

It is but at the moment we don't need a wagon, this suits us well as things stand, maybe if the arb side expands it would be worth while.

My old transit that cost me £5.500 did almost 300 grands worth of work before I retired it. They aren't perfect for tree work but they do the job.

  3. Is that the way you've gone Simon as i know you where one of the guys after a lad not so long ago. Its like pullin teeth isnt it

Got 2 on the books full time now as it makes us much more effective on site, i hate finding staff! for every 1 good bloke their seems to be 50 plonkers, bite the bullet and set someone decent on full time, get a trainee and mould them into what you want.

  4. No its not bad at all for that truck, was the arb back extra or did they put it on?

This is a lwb 150 version, Brittip cut the chassis down, made the tool box and built the body from scratch, it cost just over 33 grand with the vat. the tool box, ally tipper tow bar was around 10 grand! don't think id pay that much for an arb conversion again though, its s good body just a few things let it down which for the money it should be perfect :thumbup1:

  5. Nice looking bit of kit. Curious but barn doors on the back or just a low back?

Barn doors at the top and the bottom drops down like a transit, was just going to have barn doors but there's a good chance of logs smashing lights etc on the back of the van.

  6. I have run the older version of that Simon for 4 yrs, the nkr77, been superb and still is, there a down plated 5t and do carry weight well, a van is built to 3.5t so not as robust, out Renault master is better on a run but not in the same class work wise, where did you get that from as I'm pretty sure I'm going to sell the van and run another new Isuzu.

It came from HRVS in Sheffield, i went to Steadplan in leeds but at the time their salesman had left and the woman i was dealing with knew nothing about the vehicles and kept having to come back to me via email! they had no vehicles in to test drive either! i think if you get the 120 bhp version its around 20 grand which int bad for a new van.

  7. I think the problem is a lack of people wanting to work full stop, advertising as part time seems to drag in the dregs, getting subbies isn't cost effective, get someone on the books a months worth of work and their wages ppe etc is paid up for the year, it goes to reduce your year end and means that you have always got someone when you need them. When work slackens off send them log splitting while you rustle up more work. In your eyes nobody will be as good as you, or work as efficiently but as long as you get somebody with half a brain who is willing to work you've cracked it.

  8. Isuzu make a 5.5tonner, apparently the dealer says its the same vehicle that has been down plated for the uk. Engine is the same they put in 7.5 ton Izusu, my old transit has been a 100% reliable work horse only ever let me down once, I just think the now ones look flimsy in comparison.

  9. The hayter probably had 5 cylinders 4 you can see plus one underneath.

    Ransomes do the same.

These 5 gangs eat the grass at about 8.5 acres an hour.

Another choice is a 3 gang which would be more versatile and still do about 5 acres an hour.

Toro have started making the big hayters now as they own the brand now I think

Just been looking on Hayters website, think your right they dont seem to make any ride ones anymore, the toro mowers i have used were shite!

  10. Mick I dont think leavings saws and kit in the back of an open truck are an option anymore, sad state of affairs really . Very nice Simon, you must be chuffed with that:thumbup1:

    Bob

Must admit i have just bolted chains to the inside of the tool box to run through saw handles as a bit of extra security, it been hard earned bob, just hope its as robust as it looks.

  11. Looking for a ride on mower capable of cutting large areas of grass such as sports fields. Gang mower behind tractor is not really practical as i would ideally like to move small john deere ride on an push mowers staff etc to site in 1 go, i know Hayter used to make a cylinder mower with 4 gang on it if i remember rightly :confused1:

  12. Large beech tree with lots of faults, the main 1 being kretzschmaria at the base, the tree is down to be removed anyway but what is the potential life span given the extent of the kretzch? Could the removal of the large Limb being a contributing factor in introducing this to the tree?
