  1. there seems to be a reoccurring theme here of folk ignoring tractor maintainance, they will last much longer with a fluid check/change every so often, it doesn't take long and is far cheaper than finding out later when its broken:thumbup: just don't buy your oils from halfords or the petrol station:ohmy:

  2. triangles or squares is the question, i like to split as much as i can into large house brick size and shape lumps, but my head is telling me they will season quicker as triangles, oh come on -we've had nearly every question so far from price per lump to pore size:001_smile:

  3. i saw a programme on it once, think they slice it a tad thinner than that (more like bacon), about 150g of beef makes 100g jerky, thats all i know. oh drove past a place in california selling salmon jerky so it seems anything is possible.

  4. i don't find any serious injury funny, thats why its called serious isn't it? i would class this one as a stupid injury and that makes me laugh my pants off at the floppy leg dude.. harsh maybe, but rope/harness for correct positioning would have made his bad cut into a near miss, a correct cut would have done the same as would a different rigging setup and a guy on the rope who knows what he is doing, any diy'ers out there reading this -please don't end up like this guy, get a pro in..

  5. Buy Gränsfors Bruks, it will last you a life time, ive got my big GB maul and i'll be getting a small forest axe in a few weeks :thumbup1:

fallen out with the huskies liam? or are the fuel prices getting too much:001_tt2:

  6. just spent a few days sat next to this plastic faker:thumbdown:, and an hour or so sat next to this awesome feature stove, not sure if the kettle will fit on top of it though? spotted this massive stove in a store in yosemite national park a couple of years ago, want one:001_cool:

i like the cutting your head off idea i would actually hurt less......:thumbup1:

may i recommend a pushing chain for this and go from left to right, that way you can keep your thumb behind the handle:thumbup:

  8. been taking loads of pics while on my holiday this week so thought i'd share a couple with you guys, here's Pop and Tad, they behaved very well this week including clocking up 1200 backseat miles and playing (gently) with my bro's baby:thumbup:

  9. Hi All,

My IH885 tractor has decided that it does not like the cold weather and only turns over for a bit before the battery goes flat.

In the cold its taken a bit of cranking before it would start but this current cold weather and snow and the old girl has just dug her boots in and wont go.

The battery was new in the summer and has previously been ok, got smoke coming out the stack so she was trying but couldnt crank her enough to get it to fire.

I have a large deep cycle battery i am charging and i was thinking of boosting it in the morning with that too.

What i am wondering is i dont think the glo plugs are working, i have only just noticed that the decompressor seems to turn to the right and this may be how you make them work? anyone know if this is the case? OR can i just connect the glo plugs wire to the battery directly via a switch so i know that they are working?

    thanks in advance

ps read a thread here where someone said their granddad used to light a fire under the tractor to get her going in the cold.. i am close to dragging the space heater /generator over the field to get the bloody thing going!

i'd pull the glow plugs out and test them on a spare battery, then check the circuit for them is working, i have been using a blowtorch to start my dumper, it doesn't like the cold but if i don't get a lay-in then neither do the machines:001_smile:, the fuel is waxing up and filters icing up which doesn't help, you could do with a hot water bottle or similar to warm the engine oil a bit
