  1. Hi all i have a interview for large powerline firm, they require a 15 minute presentation on Powerline Clearance - Why is it important to do a survey and what should a good survey contain?. I haven't had any experience of powerline work and was looking for some help from those of you that have cheers

  5. it was 100% daldinia concentrica climbed and dismantled yesterday tree was in poor condition but all went ok and actually structurally felt safe, did one next to it with serve decay problems lower down but healthy canopy and glad was anchored into beech next to it, tree felt very unsafe and a couple of wobbly knee moments glad when job done
  6. got a job on removing beech about 50ft tall with lean about 1 metre up theres daldina concentrica round some old wound only about 30% around diameter, will this effect structure and is tree safe to climb

  8. Have been asked to give a quote for planting 400 norway spruce roughly 12ft each. The area has easy access and nice soil conditions (easy digging), have only ever done small scale planting ie back gardens etc. could do with some advice on planting pricing per tree ect.

The appeal is an ongoing thing and could take months apparently, you are correct local authority, and the other lads agree the arborist should be on higher pay scale, not taking anything off the grass cutters all top lads but they are not regularly putting their lives in damger climbing large trees and using chainsaws.

I think you will find they are looking for something less in depth technical wise but with an indepth view of current legistrations and how it dose not work or could be seen to be wrong. biggest issue is generic or site specific we know it should be site specific but hea lth safety do allow for generic.

  18. Hi all just had pay review at work they class arborists as semi skilled craftsman ( along with grass cutters etc) and not skilled, what are your thoughts on this i believe we are skilled.

Iam in my last year of fdsc online course and like you could not use excell cad etc but have managed to do it, i havent got the best grades all the time but i have hanged on in there, my grammer is absoulutly crap like my spelling, but iam hoping it will benefit me in future i would say keep struggling away, you will kick yourself in the future if you dont.

    Is this a permanent secure vacancy, what are the hours and pay. I live poulton le fylde hold pre 97 licence have cs units including medium trees and cs 38 39 pa1-6 and just about to finish my fdsc in arboricuture, have been in industry for about 8 years. would also be intrested if permanent part time postion ie 3-4 days a week

  23. did mine at nationwide near manchester end up with IPAF ticket and was told cs39 was only ticket need this was 4 years ago now
  24. Hi iam looking for the calculation to estimate standing timber volume, iam doing some course work and the calculation is based on a 6 hectare conifer woods of around 20 years . is there a standard calculation all help would be much appreciated
