  1. Well that took alot longer than expected, finally we have our yard bought and have moved in:thumbup:, early days so far (not got a big area of concrete or much clear space yet) but if anyone is in a muddle and wants rid of timber (can't take chips yet) I can take a bit, pm me if it would be useful to anyone and i'll give you my contact details.
  2. Thanks guys for the response, I'm probably not going to ask him for anything, will just see what he offers as it's him who's appoached me for it, I have no use for the stuff so hopefully he can make some use of it, but wanted an idea of value for my own peace of mind. Thanks again C B
  3. Good Evening, I have very small area of hazel coppice approx 40 stools in Essex, each with between 10 and 25 good poles they were last cut 9 years ago, I have had a message left by a chap I roughly know that he would like to buy the stands this winter. Now i have no idea what they would be worth as before we simply gave the wood to a mate thatcher as he had done us a favour patching up a small wind blown bit of thatch. Your advice is warmly welcomed. thanks C B

    bees

No, but you need to be responsible about where you put a hive and what temperment the bees are, i have heard of many people keeping hives on flat rooves as the bees are then out of the line of walkers by etc, I find many landowners are more than happy to let you have a corner of a field in return for a few jars of honey. 6. Interesting, how far east do you come i have many many lb's of clean beeswax:thumbup1: although i guess you'd only need a few oz.
  7. Yes mate post a pic if you have the time, i do get out and about all over the contry and if i know there is some down your way if i have a trip down i'll call in. C B
  8. I wasn't planning to but if things change i will give you a shout before hand, Thanks for the offer though. Re the hessian sacks even they are becoming scarce and often have been treated with various chemicals so not great for burning and puffing on bees. The best stuff is often found in hedgerows/woods in old tree trucks, which granted are great homes for bugs and other creepy crawlies but i generally only use a couple of bin fulls a year so not a massive ammount of disruption. Regards C B
  9. Hi guys, I'm after a supply of dry rot wood, the kind of stuff that has gone like blocks of balsa wood, it doesn't have to be super dry as i can dry it further but it is ultimatley for burning in a smoker for beekeeping. As it produces a cool smoke perfect for the job and doesn't go out easily once very dry. I would ideally like to collect some from the Huntingdon area or Rutland area but can travel further. Would swap honey for it or a few drinks if you'd prefer. Cheers C B
  10. It is a 2 seater commercial ex mod so pretty sure it is ok to reclaim but thanks will do some investigating, don't want a full investigation, way to much hassle!!
  11. Sorry for the slight hi-jack Anyone know if i can claim back VAT on something originally bought for pleasure but now going to be used for work, item in question is a land rover, was bought 3 years ago and never featured on my work accounts so not overly sure how to swap it over. Guess i buy it off myself!?! but i was charged VAT when i originally bought it and have only just got VAT registered. Any thoughts or is it an accountant question. On a side note i can totally agree that your costs will probably drop significantly. On one of my side lines everything i buy is VATable at 17.5% however pretty much everything i sell is zero rated being as it's a food. Cheers guys

  17. Thanks for the info Woodpicker I think i'll call them in the morning and take them,
  18. I looked at them on friday when it was tipping it down and they were both dry inside with no obvious water damage, i didn't get up on the roof to inspect for rust tho.
  19. Payed £50 to have our open fire done, chap couldn't have been better came set up and cleared out in 40mins including a cuppa but not one bit of mess anywhere cannot fault him and would gladly pay again to have it done with no mess as I remember an old boy who used to do grandparents aga! Hand prints and foot prints everywhere! Looked like the cops had been in dusting for prints over the whole house! C B
  20. Hi guys, Quick bit of advice sought, i have been looking for shipping containers to store gear in and also convert into an office but make it vandal proof and make it harder for thieves to help themselves, i have just found a site who is clearing 2 already converted 20' containers both a bit tatty but no rust holes and nothing a wash and a lick of paint wouldn't fix. They are both lined out and insulated with 3 strip lights and 4 power points wired in (just need connecting once on site) they have shutters to cover windows to lock up. I have only recently started looking about but these do seem a good buy at £825ea including delivery can anyone confirm that its a good price or not. I would really appreciate some advice from anyone in the know. Thanks in advance C B
  21. Hi, Just checked with my chap he is full up at the moment so sorry can't be of assistance. C B
  22. What wood is it i might know a man...... He has alot of outdoor chickens as well so uses chips outside to prevent them getting muddy, might be of use to him.
  23. Imagine one slip of the axe onto his flip line and one hell of a drop as it only looked like rope not wire.
  24. £200/mt coal is cheap down this way, they are trying to sell at £160/1/2mt delivered for standard house coal.
