  1. What a great article, thanks Gnarlyoak!
  2. Yeah thats a good one! Its called 'The pruning of trees, shrubs and conifers' originaly written by George Brown and revised by Tony kirkam. Great book, it has a pretty big alphabetical list of genera's and how and when each should be prunned near the back, theres something like 400 odd. Should keep you busy for awhile eh! leo
  3. Owwwuuch! I wouldn't wanna slip on that! Great photo though
  4. From our point of view (contractor), just keep your own opinion out of it completely and do precisely as told, as its all been agreed already. Obviously its a different mater if you know for certain that the work will make the site hazardous.
  5. Agreed! I think most contractors are left with that dilemma when it comes to not agreeing with dodgy specs, especially if the task seems ridiculous in the first place or if you know from professional experience that the work will make the tree weak or left in a poor condition. Who do you keep happy? the client, consultant, public or your own conscience? Everyone sees it from a different angle which makes it difficult, sometimes unfortunately its safer to go exactly by the spec.
  6. Cool thread! Photos are always good The flowers which blossom around may to june: The berries which appear around late summer/early autumn and ripen october/november Like the good old saying goes, a picture = a thousand words..........well i just like them. I'll let someone else cover bark, buds and leaves etc
  7. Hello everyone! I'm not particularly new to tree work or this site but i just realised i've never said hello! So hi, howdy, ello' and all that! I'm located mid beds and have been involved with tree stuff for a good 3 years now, starting off with a two year arb/hort coarse at shuttleworth now working full time climbing . Cheerio, leo
