  1. indeed, and it does at times become a little too heavy hence my at times and often distraught state as I learn the depths to which we sink with such things. Vandana shiva has scientifically proven that organic, bio diverse farming methods out yield GM and mono-cultures. the global food crisis will result because of the likes of the big corps and their blatant disregard for natural systems, not because of any real dangers, they will probably manufacture the problems and come forth with the solutions, like with this Bee thing.
  2. the tree or the fungus, the idents are correct, both probably to me suggestive that psuedomona (Horse chestnut bleeding canker) has been and done some serious damage
  3. I am having a tough time believing that man has achieved anything good when we kill for oil and rape the environment, kind of outwieghs any positive effects of our existence IMO
  4. I know much of what I do will bite me, but we should never be afraid of the dark:biggrin:
  5. What do you think of the potential consequences of "getting this wrong" I mean man has historicaly made a complete mess of everything, what about the genepool?
  6. http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=splicing+fids&tag=googhydr-21&index=aps&hvadid=10314574731&hvpos=1o1&hvexid=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=5316379191442590707&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=b&ref=pd_sl_9bwlsp744k_b
  7. lol didnt say I would now! boys will be boys though
  8. ive done similar, its alright till the end wieghts off and the shear root ball rights the remaining stem!
  9. Not going to preach to anyone here, just curious about the level of understanding of GM and views as to whether it is a good or a bad thing. Its common knowledge that I am 100% against GM, and with good cause. This article I saw today is just another example of the madness GM bees tolerant to roundup, just so we can keep on spraying those petrochemicals the company involved also sells:sneaky2: The Fox (Monsanto) Buys the Chicken Coop (Beeologics) | The Liberty Beacon
  10. think HB sell that stuff, or Nod at treeworker would be a good ask, he would know
  11. going from watford to mid wales (Bodfach estate) thursday 14th march, room in car (astra estate) http://frontpage.woodland-trust.org.uk/ancient-tree-forum/atfnews/images/Bodfach%20Case%20Study%20WEL%20A3%204pp%20(LR).pdf
  12. I am doing, not thinking, jobs have been coming in, just havent been making the most of them, and know where your coming from. Im doing my PTI in april and will get insurance (pro indemnity) giving me the capacity to take on all the reports im regularly asked to do but unable to legaly, this will bring in money with little outlay, the start of something:thumbup1:
  13. these two will become statistics! he even expects to be able to catch his buddy (with a running saw) EASY THIS TREE WORK MALARKY AINT IT:lol:
  14. I have considered it, I had done this in the past, and regretted it, fishing is one of those things you never really stop, just take a break from, I wouldnt want to restrict the option for a camping weekend with the rods, i do still have a lifes ambition to complete in that regard, a fourty pounds common carp and a fourty pounds fully scaled mirror carp, like this one:001_cool:
  15. always a pleasure:thumbup1: there is always options, only limited by ones imagination and open mindedness
  16. yes, now i get ya, very similar suggestion to what I am proposing, lots of possibles:thumbup1:
  17. its always good to be mindful, but dont beat yourself too hard your one of the best dads I know:thumbup1:
  18. trying to picture what youre describing?
  19. Ive been getting more and more uptight lately, been hard to see it, always hard to see it in yourself isnt it? I think I may well be finding the downside of a totally self indulgent way of life! It sounds ridiculous to me to say it but i may be lonely! I traced back the changes, this is about when the fishing all stopped and so with it mine and dads weeks away in summer and too much focus on work etc. I threw myself into work and study un hindered and obsessively, and totaly unhealthily, its time to get some balance back.
  20. the soil fill will be imensley good for this tree, allowing roots to form on what has become the tension side but has now no roots. Dont try to limit it just build the soil to a natural mound and allow the overflow to settle its own level:thumbup1: you can still create afusion within the branches, take two branches from the nearest perimeter of the joining and pull the ends together with ropes, if too much resistance tie for a year, then repeat the next till contact can be made between two branches, then strap them together they will fuse no problem, ash do this very well, as do lime beech and oak:thumbup1:
  21. In image five would appear to be som canker forming at a minor wound of some kind? image 7-8 I stand corrected as there is some buckling occurring on the lower occlusion rolls, the first signs of stresses over and above desired.
  22. I think rod bracing is undervalued, having cut many out of trees I believe with total conviction that the invasive argument is unjustified in 99% of situations. If there is dysfunctional tissues at the point of drilling it can allow spreading of already present dysfunction and fungal activity, but. If into sound wood these rods exclude air and the tree simply grows into them with no discolourations, which is remarkable.
  23. If it was mine and I could do anything I liked I would fill the void between the two with good soil to give it something to root into from within. and pollard
  24. wouldnt nick bandit anyway!
