  16. I am working with one groundsman two too three days per week and a climber one too two days per week. They are both self-employed but i am unsure if they are in reality bonafide subcontractors. They both do their own work outside of my business. They provide their own saws and fuel, kit etc. They both invoice me for work done each week. They have signed a document to say that they will be responsible for their own tax and national insurance. But i do guide them when on jobs as to what to do. Do small businesses get prosecuted for not having the correct employment status for workers? Is this something i should be concerned about? If they dont pay their tax am i liable? I do not have any contracts and do residental work. Would i be better using a zero hours contract or a Contact for Services? Or leave well alone?! I would welcome advice. Thanks

  23. ok I think it is fine to purge stump-grinder bearings and keep them regularly greased during day. The bearing on the fly wheel of the woodchipper though I am unsure about. Previously it had a sealed bearing but was replaced with greasable bearing by engineer. Is there any way by looking at it that I can tell if it is sealed or if it is purge-fill type?
  24. I have Jensen Woodchipper with greasable bearing on fly-wheel. I have been advised to grease every 60 hours with just 2 pumps. Does this seem about right? I was told not to purge this bearing with grease. I was doing maintenance today and it took 10 pumps without hearing any "crackling" noise of grease coming out of bearing. Also with stump grinder wheel bearing I was told previously to grease until it purges out of sides. Is this right? Thanks for any advice.
