  1. Tut @ you Stevie - a) there's no such thing as 'the fbt magazine' anymore and b) why haven't you subscribed to FJ/eA yet
  2. Currently FJ is £59 for 12 issues, and essentialARB is given as a free quarterly supplement. essentialARB on its own is £25 for 4 issues - though there will be deals on offer at both Capel and the AA show for new subscribers
  3. We will probably update the t-shirts for this years' APF - but not sure whether we will do fleeces etc - need to look at costings etc...will get back to you on that one:001_smile:
  4. In fact the staff are very, very nice Cheers Yvonne :-) Currently the better deal is obviously to subscribe to FJ at £59, and receive 12 copies of FJ and get essentialARB 'thrown in' so to speak. How long this will continue for I don't know. Obviously since it's relaunch in late 2008 we are trying to grow the subscriber base for essentialARB as a stand alone publication, which in turn would hopefully allow us to consider either increasing the size or the publication schedule, perhaps to a bi-monthly initally....time (and your feedback) will tell. Thanks for the positive remarks guys. The editor of FJ loves (and writes) the cartoon, and that one is his baby so I'm not passing those comments on !!!
  5. Just to clarify...members of the AA do not receive essentialARB as a part of their membership package. This did happen when essentialARB was published by Forestry & British Timber, but ceased when Forestry Journal took them over.
  6. Apologies for not responding to this earlier - unavoidable family crisis. If you wish to see a sample copy of essentialARB before deciding whether it is for you or not, if you pm me your address details I will get a copy sent out to you. Alternatively you can ring the office on 01387 702272. Margaret
  7. There will be a piece on the Husky 372 in the Feb issue of Forestry Journal - not by Simon this time - but still a user review for anyone interested.
  8. Am I being dense here? When I've got my fire lit - if I opened my living room door I'd have a baltic wind blowing in the room which kinda defeats having a fire lit???? (I'm too tight to have the central heating on when I've got the fire lit in the only room I'm in - sod everyone else!) I've got a cowl on the chimney and have it swept twice a year - that seems to do the trick for me.
  9. Well said that man! and thank you:biggrin:
  10. Many thanks for your feedback In order to bring you the magazine you want we need feedback like this. With regard to
  11. Cheers Mozza - don't think my daughter will be doing that again in a hurry - labour started at 6am on Monday morning - and finished with a section at 00:57 on Tuesday morning!! But yea - all well and good thanks! (not sure I'm liking the Grandma tag at my age but hey ho ) - and my 12 year old is well fed up that the baby doesn't want to play with his aunty just yet:lol:
  12. I might be wrong (and I'm sure Yvonne will correct me if I am!) but I think it was intended that it be bi-annual so next one would be 2011? Though it did do well - and I'm sure could support a yearly event......over to you Yvonne:biggrin:
  13. Thanks to all those who responded. Apologies for the delay in getting back to you - those who pm'd me should have a reply by now - my first grandchild, who was due on 24th Dec, finally arrived on 5th Jan - so his arrival, coupled with the snow, has kept me out of the office and off the computer for a few days.
  14. :confused1:In what way - I asked people to pm me if they would like to trial the boots for me. Which those who are interested have done. You asked if you could read it here, and I replied...and suggested tongue in cheek that you could subscribe if you wanted to read it - that's part of my job, to gain subscribers for the magazine. I'm not a moderator - I don't 'manage' the threads. If I have said/done something you don't like I'm sorry, but I'm not sure what you're disappointed with?
  15. awww he's a cute wee fella - takes after his mum does he:biggrin: happy birthday to him....I'm on tenterhooks waiting for my eldest daughter to present me with a grandson, she's due today but looks like she's gonna wait and ruin ma crimbo dinner !! Margaret
  16. ermmmm no, not yet....I won't call you the same names Stevie did but he's right......it's £25 quid well spent!
  17. No you can't unfortunately - it's only available by subscription - £25 for the year (4 issues) as a stand-alone subscription - or currently is still given as a free supplement within the £59 Forestry Journal subscription. Full details at Forestry Journal
  18. see you could do it John - Stevie's a man of many words, as you will see in the next issue of essentialARB !
  19. that one is still to come...slight problem with the headset that they wanted to sort before we got them...but it's still on-going. I just had too many to choose from John - sorry, your moment will come I'm sure:lol:
  20. Yea sure......but ideally you need to get the next copy of essentialARB, where you can read all about them !! (had to get a plug in - sorry!) The upper is crafted from full grain tough cow leather, 2.8 to 3.0mm thick and multiple stitched with Kevlar® thread. The layers of polyester chainsaw blocking material extend all around the boot including the back of the leg. The boot has a tough anti-scuff cap, spacious 200J steel, easy glide speed lacing system and generously padded collar and tongue. Flex points at the front and back of the boot mean that it is fine for driving in and needs virtually no breaking in. Lined with 100% waterproof breathable lining, the Lightning also has a layer of Thinsulate® insulation to maintain comfortable working temperatures for the duration of the day. Margaret
  21. essentialARB have a pair of the new Lightning Class 2 boot from Arbortec Forestwear to trial and review. The review will appear in the April 2010 issue of essentialARB. If you are interested in trialling the boots for us please pm me your contact details (full name, email and phone), with brief details of the type of work you currently undertake - and of course, your foot size! It is essential that the trial puts the boots fully to the test in all conditions and also that you are prepared to submit a minimum 500 word review for publication. I would add that companies do not offer us goods for trial lightly - we do have to assure them that the product will be tested properly and reported on timeously and in full. Having been let down previously, I should warn that anyone being chosen to undertake the trial, who then fails to submit a written review, will be charged the full retail price for the goods. Margaret
  22. Hi If you want to email me at margaret@essentialarb.com or pm me on here I will give you details of article submissions. The dates for publication have changed since that first post - the next issue of essentialARB will be out the first week of January, then April, July, Oct We always welcome ideaas for articles - or news features/product launches
  23. I'm lovin' that - well done - do we get a prize for the best colouring in
  24. They do have some awesome t-shirts on there - but be careful with the shipping. A pal pointed me to this website when I was diagnosed with cancer a couple of years ago, and I was fed up of people staring at the bald head all the time - they had some spot on caption ones, so I was delighted. Spent about £60 quid on various items and then got a card through the door saying my parcel was at the post office and I needed to pick it up. So off I went with the little card in my hand - handed it over expecting my parcel, but was informed that I had over £20 of customs duty and import vat to pay - I was well gutted. There is a warning on the shipping page about this - but it doesn't specify costs as these are charged when it reaches Britain: UK Duties and Taxes: Items shipped to UK via economy shipping may incur customs duties (If the value is over £7) and import VAT - Value Added Tax (If the value is over £18). Please note that additional charges for customs clearance may be collected (i.e. by Royal Mail or Parcelforce Worldwide) and are the responsibility of the recipient. As I say it is over 2 years since I ordered, not sure if it will still be the same, but just beware... Margaret
