  1. May have been in a wooded block, but was definately on the site
  2. No, just shoes, you would only really need cleats if working in snow, icy conditions.
  3. They belong to a man called Simon Lenihan, he works with his sons, and they are full time horse loggers. Simon is based in The Lakes, but works all over the UK, in fact I think he was on one side of Foulshaw Moss when the skyline crew were on the other.
  4. They are Ardennes, pound for pound the best logging horses you can get!
  5. It's not romantic, winter is mud and rain, summer is flies and rain, but it is a way of life, and it's hard to make a living
  6. some more, the first pic shows a stallion, "Prince", pulling two Douglas Firs, one was 85", the other 65", about 2 ton.
  7. A few pics, forwarder was imported from Finland, weighs 1.5 ton, laden gross weight 6.5 ton, it has a drive axle to help horses start it and going uphill. Timber stack will be forwarded by conventional forwarder as and when needed.
  8. Yes, it will have it's own brakes, I have one, mine only has brakes on the front axle, will carry 4 ton, but there is one on the market now that has brakes on both rear axles, and also a drive axle that works off the same engine as works the hydraulics, will carry 5 ton. I will try to get some pictures up.
  9. Start with two bearers that span the river, the rest goes from there:001_smile:
  10. Ditto the above, nice bridge, but someone will go a purler and then they will want to know who made it!
  11. How can I get hold of quickbooks?
  12. Don't mention anything about woodfuel, I have recently tried our local Rural Development Grant scheme. It seems if you want money to stop farming, and show all the local schoolchildren around they will throw thousands at you. Tell them you want to purchase a forwarder and a logsplitter and it's "sorry, woodfuel is'nt on the list". I tried the ecological, local, sustainable routes but it did me no good, fortunately I had a good endowment policy that I surrendered, a) because I might be dead before I'm 65, and b) because I don't want my wife to have the pleasure of spending it without me
  13. Thanks for the welcome, Tommy, I see what your saying, and that would make sense, but I happened to notice a sat nav, running in the front of the car. Maybe it was coincidence, but this happened within a short time of goods received. I suppose it could have been someone from the couriers, see's aload of chainsaw stuff going to an address and informs his mate down the pub, who he knows has some crap chainsaws to sell.
  14. Yep, looks like a great wildlife pond
  15. Well everybody knows Redruth is twinned with Beiruit, and as for Praze, words fail me:001_smile:
  16. Tree beard, whereabouts in Kernow, I'm from Camborne:scared1:, but don't hold that against me!
  17. Hi all, I'm fairly new to the site, about 2 months ago I had a chap knocking on my door trying to sell me one of these. He claimed he was Italian, a lot of " sorry, please forgive, I no speak English very well". He said he was over here for a trade show and didn't want to have to take them back on the plane, they were obviously fake and I told him so, " I sorry, please forgive, ducking and bowing like Manuel from Fawlty Towers, ( although I believe he was from Barcelona, was'nt he?). He jumped in his car and sped off. Now, how did he know where to find someone who might buy a chainsaw, I live well off the beaten track, however, I had recently bought some gear from two large dealers, I think he got my info from one of them, but I don't know which!
