  1. Sorry to go off topic here but im looking for a saw to prepare firewood and was wondering is the 260 the saw for the job or would you consider a saw slightly bigger / smaller more suitable. Wood is probably averaging 10" -12" in diameter, biggest no more than 16" - 18" Sorry of this is covering old ground for alot of you. Thanks
  2. Saw this in the national farming newspaper out today. Thought id give you the heads up. If they are trying to scam people over here im sure they are at it in the UK as well.
  3. website with densities of different varities of wood incl. holly Wood Densities
  4. and a better pilot than that fool called Rick last year.... better to look at too:thumbup:
  5. I know what you mean, only properly read the other thread and saw your post after i posted the pictures....
  6. If the wood looks like this you should be all right.....
  7. Fair point.
  8. Can you remember did you have the option to buy hardwood from Coillte? Just wondering as i am thinking of getting a load off them.
  9. These are the companies i was thinking of. Worrell Harvesting hire out the processor for sure, the other company sell but im not sure about hireing, ring to check. Hope it helps [/ATTACH]
  10. i saw some people advertising processors for hire at the ploughing match this year, ill dig out the numbers and post them later or in the morning. How much did you pay for the wood? You buy it from Coillte?
  11. Murphy Brothers: BGU Firewood & Timber Processing Machinery are the main dealers here in ireland. The main agricultural show in ireland is on for the next 3 days over here and they have a stand there. I am working at the show for the week and plan on calling to their stand for some info for myself. let me know if you want me to get any prices for you.
  12. there seems to be some dispute over the volume of firewood in a 8x5 trailer, some simple maths: 8ft = 2.44 metres 5ft = 1.525 metres 1ft 10ins = .558 metres therefore a 8x5 filled up 1ft 10 = 2.44x1.525x.558 = 2.08 cubic metres of logs
  13. The exchange hasnt recovered that much, i am looking at the exchange every day as i am in the euro zone and exporting into northern ireland. the pound has been gaining every day now for the past week or so and is now at about 90 pence to the euro or 1.11 euro to the pound. Defenitely an oppertunity for a UK manufacturer to export into the euro zone
  14. exactly what i was thinking. you are telling me on this thread between 30 and 40 cube to a load so that would mean a cube before i process it would cost me between 32.50 euro and 43.50. put processing costs on top of that (ive been quoted 250 euro a day and it would take 2 and a half days) which would bring the price of a cube up to between 48 euro and 64 euro. this is before i factor delivery costs and time so from what i see there might be something in it but nothing as tasty as quadrupleing my money.... Thank you all for your input
  15. 1300 euro which works out at about 1150 pounds
  16. Bit sceptical of what they are telling me so am looking for a second opinion, its iin their interest to talk up the amount they are selling me after all
  17. Just wondering if any of you know how many cubic metres of firewood logs you will get out of an artic load of unprocessed wood. Thinking of buying a load and im trying to work out my costs.
  18. why was it changd so soon? How much you looking for it?
  19. Do you have any photos of this rack? Sounds like a good system. Do you sell them?
  20. good idea, i would like to know availability of processors for hire in Ireland
  21. sorry, should have read the text about the processor. what are you selling the nets for and how many are your customers taking at a time? just trying to work out if its viable for me to take on with something similar here.
  22. what size are the nets? i am in county louth and thinking of doing something similar. do you hire a processor to split the wood?
