  2. I also thought beech would be too hard but he's got his heart set on it!! Axe throwing is something that he is trying to get into so I'm sure he's only going off what some one has told him . So you use poplar Steve? Much easie to lift than beech at 36". What thickness do you use to avoid splitting?
  3. He's after about 8 pieces at 22 -24".
  4. I have a colleague who is looking for some large diameter beech rings for axe throwing targets. He is located in Devon but is happy to travel to collect. Anyone got any?
  5. Well that's funny you should say that coz I did think that I could buil in a fashion so it starts in the garage and then comes out through the side dot and a funky jump onto the side of the house. But keep that one under your hat!😶
  6. Being a fan of rock climbing as well as tree climbing my wife has agreed to let me build an indoor bouldering wall in my garage . As well as you usual climbing holds I shall be mounting some gnarly old rot pocket style holds on there which I will be picking up from time to time from certain jobs. Any body else made one before and could offer any advice/ tips.
  7. I'm looking for work in the bideford Barnstaple area I have been climbing for 8 years and working with trees for 15 I have relevant qualifications and own kit. I will happily groundy if no climbing is available. Cheers
  8. It's been running fine . The pull cord snapped and after repairing that it fired up once hit maximum revs then stalled. It's hard to get it started but when its running , it ticks over if you gently add throttle it starts to dip then stalls. It's a shame really I've had it 6 years from new and had no problems up until now
  9. My ms 460 has started acting up. It's ticking over nicely but hit the throttle and it dies. I've had the carb off and cleaned it along with checking file filter and fuel pipe . Any body had the same problem?
  10. Getting a call from a customer at 10pm the night before a job to ask if ive seen the weather report as its going to be raining in the morning.
  11. Hey Danny i find these are quite good kit bags dont cost much either but cant quite remember where to get em! they are waterproof too!!
  12. I hope you found it before your saw did!
  13. It was a single stem elm and this was the last slither to take off which was about 3" from the top of the bank that it growing from.
  14. I have had both sets of boots and I prefer the red little numbers. Seemed a better shape and lasted longer. Although make sure you try them on as they seem to come up smaller than other boots which i have had . They do half sizes.
  15. A big massive thank you to the guys at Greenmech for efficiently rectifying my troubled chipper. Turned out to be a crack in the weld on the cassette which houses the blades. All fixed up and running just like a brand new one. I love my chipper:thumbup1: My best purchase to date:001_smile: once again many thanks
  16. No , it was a small piece of stone the size and shape of a matchbox! I think that when i managed to get the stone out i made a P.B. in throwing stones as far as one can!
  17. I was having a pretty good day today, the job was going really well despite the torrential downpours then scaulding hot sun spells . My jacket was off and on and off and on again.... Newly fixed chipper was chipping like a brand new machine and I managed to leave all woodchip onsite yet take the wood away which was dead elm, all ready to go:thumbup1:. I even had time to log it up onsite and bring it home and straight into the woodburner. One last stump to take down then pack up and off home for afternoon tea:thumbup1: Then this little number appeared in the middle of the last cut just enough to ruin the chain what were the chances? Could i be bothered to sharpen the chain for it to happen again? no chance out came the axe and wedges to finish this b@$!£&d off!! oh well back to the yard to do a spot of sharpening then!! almost a perfect day.
  18. Try Saturn Machine Knives Wood Chipper Blades, Knives,Anvils,Stump Grinding Teeth - Saturn Machine Knives they may not have the blades on the site but if you give em a ring I m sure they will sort you out.
  19. I recently turned the blades round on my chipper to expose the super sharp unused side. I made sure that the anvil clearance was set at 0.5 mm as suggested in the handbook. After putting all back together and running it on tick over all seemed well, . Unfortunatley i did not try it on full revs until i was about to use it on a job where i was horrified to hear a super loud super wrong metal on metal kind of sound. The machine was turned off and brash pile left stacked high. I inspected the anvil distance which was still the correct recommended setting but noticed that there had been friction from the blades as there was a light scuff mark on them. I increased the anvil gap and ran the machine up and the noise was there no longer. the problem i have now is that the brash has to be forced down onto the blades with effort and the machine does not pull in the brash like it did. What can i do? as the arm vibration when feeding the chipper now is a bit too much to handle.
  20. Hi, so far have spent 3 lots of £40 quid on this issue. Wondering if the postage, parts and labour costs will out weigh buying a new one and keeping this for future parts. Its not a sentimental saw although it the first saw i bought when starting my 2 year old business.
  21. your the second person to recommend this guy. Where is he based?
  22. judging from what ive read, if they are still available the 200t is the way to go!
