  1. my missus (welsh) says "bloody English you cant even spell street names right" i reply "that says poplar not popular" "ohhh um ok" she says looking sheepish. anyone else got any good quotes from the better half ?
  2. i work part time for a big green supermarket, one of the home delivery drivers came back one day with a very sheepish look on his face ,we said "whats up" his reply "the sat nav told me to go that way" turns out he hit a very low bridge ,as our vans are 9ft tall also he did more damage backing out and ripping the front of the van off, after a while the driver comes out with "the council lowered the bridge and changed the sign on one side of the bridge but not the other !!! mmmmmm really ???
  3. i have cs 30/31/38/39 and mewp as well as a few others ,i have tried to get work here but no one seems to be taking on, most of the tree companies here are one man bands, i dont mind grafting at all and am more than willing to start at the bottom even if i just drag brash to the chipper just getting ur foot through the door round here is hard.
  4. sorry aint been on i a few days may be i should elaborate a bit, when i was told i was over qualified it was a bout 8 years a go, i had a 1st dip in agri and hort engineering and an nvq L2 in amenity hort, i had done some voluntary work for the Scottish wildlife trust thinning and such and also worked for a firm that cut grass for some of the big firms up there. i saw the bloke that interviewed me a few days later in the pub and he told me.i know i will have to start at the bottom i dont want to jump the que ,i want to start at the bottom so i can learn every aspect of the job but eventually i would like to have my own landscape design/tree work company but aint gonna be able to afford to set up for a long time ! so thought i would try and get in with LA either with the tree officer(trainee) or Landscape Officer and deal with works to protected trees and trees in Conservation Areas may be or some sort of landscape design department.
  5. well i started uni and loving it,as part of the course we learn garden history, surveying & drafting, cad and loads more so with nc,nd arb and a degree in landscape design i should hopefully get a "propper" job. my only concern is being over qualified, i was once told i was over qualified for cutting grass for the council, does/has anyone else come up against this problem ? cant afford to start up on my own :-(
  6. while out with the family and a big crowd of kids (my own and nephews) made some muhasive swings with climbing kit i came across this, its about 5 meters to the break off point and the rest of the tree landed about 2 foot from the path ! there's some fungi might be "Daldinia concentrica" just thought it was strange it snapped at that hight and quite a clean break !
  7. still here alive and kicking:thumbup: found out she has family close by that have offered help ,she refused, also local authorities have offered help again she refused, somethings not right !!! any way i left for work the following morning while she was still in bed, contacted my mother later in the day to find she went on her way with no probs and aint been seen/heard from since !
  8. tea and a hug for normal people but she dont drink tea ,coffee or alcohol, and she aint the hugging sort of person lol, birthdays is a nightmare lol
  9. normally that would be the case but as shes a florist she picks out all the faults with other other florist and u might say "well a box of choc's" but she is always on a diet so what to get her ???
  10. thanks dude will keep u posted
  11. i dont normally worry but im quite well connected around here but no one seems to know anything about her , we have pointed her to all the local services as mentioned above, i will keep u posted , just surprised as no one has taken the time/effort to sort her out or even talk to her !
  12. well mmm she aint ugly if i was single and met her in a bar ??? any way i agree her brothers dont want her for a reason which is why im staying on the sofa as she is in the spare room, i told mother hide the valuables and i am a light sleeper so see what happens !!!
  13. i totally agree but im pretty savy with people and can usually tell when something is wrong. like i said im here for the night just in case
  14. im sat here talking to her as i type and cant see any mental issues, i worked with adults with learning difficulties and cant sense anything wrong there but she is very shy just one/two word answers, like i said im gonna stay here for the night just in case
  15. not in london im in somerset south west.
  16. oh i am , im gonna stay here tonight just in case, in this area any thing can happen, the house she's been staying is a well known drug and alcohol house, i'v told my mum im sleeping on the sofa and to hide all the valuables and i will be sleeping with a weapon of some sort just in case some one comes looking for her !!!
  17. after having a bit of a chat i found out she is 20 and been homeless for 7 weeks, dont know why , she is very shy , she says she has tried a couple of places here that deal with homelessness to no success , she seems like a really nice girl , no substance abuse or alcohol problems(just offered her a glass of wine and she declined), her brothers refuse to put her up and her parents know she is homeless, what can you do ?
  18. i would also have taken her in but for the fact i have a baby girl 4 months old and wouldnt take the risk, im all for helping the less fortunate but not at the expense of my family
  19. about two weeks ago i heard of a homeless person camping out at the the local train station and didnt think anything of it then about a week ago heard the homeless person was a 20 somthing girl and had moved to a back garden about 5 doors down from my mothers house then i came over to my mums and found she had invited her in for a bath and meal and has now asked if she wants a bed for the night, now i havnt got a problem with this at all, my point is why has it taken 2 odd weeks for some one to do this to take her in and offer her help, where are the local service's/parents/friends, its a sad world when a young girl so vulnerable with nothing can go without any one caring :-(
  20. lots of reasons then. it is in a park with a footpath about 20ft away but dog walkers and kids get close and anglers even closer!
  21. this was a massive willow, the hole in the middle is old ,been there for a few years now but the new fracture happened in high winds and the far left stem ripped almost to the ground, now my question is "as willow grows back very easy surely the stem that ripped will gain weight and rip again?" is there another reason for leaving it ? ps it was done by the LA
  22. i aint last, and i know nothing about footy as the team name implies, i just picked players at random
