  1. I gave up my love of rowing in favour Pubs too back then....so yep time to return to the river. They were all made of wood last time I was in a clinker so this would be interesting.Thankfully my coach said she was amazed that I looked so confident on the river.
  2. Time to get Really Superfit! I decided I would Swim....almost everyday.Yeah it would mean following protocol with distancing but it was better No crowds...just swimming lengths for an hour each session. So again after an absence of 40 years I took up daily swimming.
  3. She was a long way off.But we began daily conversations and messaging.Yes I was totally attracted to her but it was clear as time went on that there was something more...much more.Would I travel over there to visit her? One constant in my life since I got my life back has been the accumulation of money. If you don't blow it every weekend it soon builds up.I had just got myself a new passport and at 53 years of age why not? Meanwhile in the background something odd was happening in China according to the Media. As the days went by things got serious.I listened to the advice which was straight forward...I realised that times were about to get desperate. And I do thrive of these times...Time to go into full survival mode.Concentrate on keeping fit and focused and ignore any negative or Media Hype and just climb trees, make money and dream about the possibility of meeting her one day.
  4. In February 2020 I received a message from from that very same girl wanting to contact me!
  5. We would always smile when we saw each other but I always thought she was too good for me and anyway she was always studying or playing tennis.I was only interested in the Punk lasses or the more edgey or bohemian types.....Little did I know.
  6. A long time ago...when I were a lad,I knew a pretty girl
  7. So what brought me here? To answer this question I have to go back to February 2020. Well.....maybe around 40 years ago.
  8. I sure did my friend x. Wait until you see how this chapter unfolded.I'm in the UK soon.Down Derbyshire way.Get in touch.Lets catch up...Meanwhile have a great weekend.Proof that I am indeed still smiling ro this very day.
  9. It's all pick-ups out here.Ranch and Farm Country.
  10. And to you too Mr Stubby! Wait until you see where I'm going very soon. All the best my friend.
  11. Happy New Year to everyone everyone in Arbtalkland from a warm and sunny day in the Santa Ynez Valley,California! And what a journey to get here! But that's another story.....But it is exactly where I need to be in my life as I celebrate Five years of Sobriety at 10,30 tonight. And I certainly wouldn't be here if I hadn't made the decision to quit when I did.Big Love to everyone out there for 2022.
  12. But he has survived and now is part of the family who live next door so I see him everytime I pass and they k now that he must stay with them for maybe up to as much as 20 years in captivity! But he is very much loved.
  13. And all traces of Chipper's home have gone.........🐿
  14. The tree took a day and a quarter to get down.He kept all the wood which was removed next day by a firewood guy and within a week or so all signs of the Tree were gone and the building work began. My friend does renovation on properties
  15. Once the dust and (and ivy) had settled on the job I went to see "Chipper" as my neighbours kids have named it.
  16. Tune in later to find out🕵️‍♂️🐿
  17. With no sign of its mother we heard this little Tree rat squeaking in the ivy on the ground.Vermin they are and I'm not in the habit of taking them in or dispatching them my beighvour insisted on trying to raise it.The council just euthanasia them anyway and it was his Tree and property to do as he wanted...Did it survive?
  18. But although the tree came down with no problem...there was one casualty (I've disguised it to keep his identity a secret)🤫
  19. And he was pleased to see the last of his branches which only took minutes to chip. And were given to my local allotment.
  20. So for a forth time he dragged the branches out and stacked them in the street for my mate to remove after the trunk was on the ground. If only he'd listened to me in the first place..All the timber was staying.
  21. So I got the crown out and dragged the branches into a yard to doors down...then back into the street....then back into another yard ....then I got the call would I bring a chipper on the day we took the stem down (once all the other branches were moved from under the trunk in the first yard🤦‍♂️
  22. Determined to get this thread up to date and with one months work still booked in before my second jab and another step closer to my big adventure I am going to catch up with where I left off.My neighbour and friend had asked me to get this tree down cheap as chips. No Team needed. No truck or chipper, rigging etc...he'd get a platform in and move the branches using his van🤦‍♂️😜
  23. Going to have a real sort through of all the work pictures from. This year as there has been some very interesting stuff I including a great team effort on a Crane job I helped on this week.Have a great Weekend Arbtalkers!
  24. And even enjoying dragging, chipping up etc especially with Spring here...Basically happy in my world.
  25. But more than ever loving life and enjoying the job I love so much.😁🧡
