Although many of the parks had been blocked by snow the alerts said that chains were not needed throughout the roads leading to King's Canyon.

Just to see her so happy had already made my day but i'd chosen this location for a reason. To find a Tree,a very certain Tree.My favourites are Yews and always have been. The Llangernyw in Wales being my most favourite because of it's location and great age and it holds a significance to me.I was not here to find a aYew..There is a Tree that i have wanted to meet ever since i was a boy and was not very far from here.

Miles of empty road lined with Palm trees turned to miles of empty road lined with fields of citrus fruit as far as the eye could see...then the horizon gave way to more dramatic scenery and the once flat road began to rise steeply into dense forest.I had been planning this trip in my head for a year or two and she had no idea but loved Trees just as much as i did so this was a journey of a lifetime for both of us.As we continued up the steep climb the landscape became more like a wilderness with huge snags poking through the canopy with the occasional bird of prey perched on top.We had left the sunshine of southrrn california way behind us with snow appearing on the tops of the mountains that now framed our view.

During my three month stay i would have at least one a week.A marinated Beef or Pork Classic Mexican Burrito with re-fried beans, rice and cheese.Best thing i ever tasted. This would fill me until we reached our destination a few hours later.

One more thing needed and there are plenty of those all over this part of California...I lived off these things whilst i was there.Authentic Mexican food is to be found everywhere here and i knew the best place to get my favourite Burrito.

And although the Sun is VERY hot logs are always needed for fire-pits etc. as it gets very chilly at night. There is little to no cloud cover and the cold Pacific is only a stones throw away...

But there was one store that supplied the local ranches and had plenty of homeowner goods too that i enjoyed looking around. They have been around since the 1930's and would have the items i was looking for and many more besides.

There wouldn't be any shops where we were headed and i had no outdoor bits and pieces. There are no shopping malls in the Valley and if we ever needed one of those it was a long but beautiful drive down the Pacific coast highway to Los Angeles.

How nice to hear from you.🦊🦋I had to google Bob Ross😄 As you know i am very passionate about life and Treelife in particular.I have an abundance of positivity for both and Arbtalk was the perfect platform all those years ago for me to express that. But it all stems from having to overcome events through my determination which is fundamental to who i am.I was doing this long before there was such a thing as the internet...Glad to have met you on my journey my friend.

I,d already clocked up a few hundered miles on my bike exploring the Canyons around the Valley and the rest of the day spent tidying the garden and making myself useful around the house whilst she was at work. Now with a few days off i had a suprise getaway booked and with time running out before i had to return to England i made ready for the journey.
