  1. Took him to meet Tommy's Statue today.....great likeness to Mr Wharton himself.
  2. Quite the opposite....he's a real nature boy.
  3. Spent the weekend with my Grandson...He's not one for sitting on the couch staring at a screen.

It sure is David.This was a tree i used to climb as a boy.To be involved with this project was a privalage.Google Wharton Park Durham to see the interesting history of this hillside park overlooking the city and of Mr Wharton (sculpture) himself.And check out Tommy Cragg's tree sculpture facebook page....He's a local lad.
  6. What a great day Friday was.A stem we had left for carving was not suitable so i took it down to a Plinth...

  8. It is a very beautiful little village and the Old Stag is full of character.....Once you meet this Tree your mind will be blown!
  9. The Borrowdale Yews have been dated at about 2,000 years so nowhere near the great age of my favourite Yew.

I remember them well James.I never forget a tree.They were Sessile Oaks and quite a sight halfway up that small mountain.The Borrowdale Yews are old but not as ancient as the Llangernyw Yew.Wordsworth wrote a poem about them.....i have a piece of deadwood i carved from one of them....Our tutor was Tony Pinkerton...How could you forget him?....although it was 22 years ago!

  15. What an incredible end to the Week.I've just taken down a beech stem to be used as a base for a Sculpture by Tommy Craggs!
