  1. Taking another tractor is an option but it would be nice to be able to leave the knocker and tractor on site and get people home in one vehicle in relative comfort so a 3 seater would be pretty nice! Also a pickup type vehicle seems pretty appealling as anyone can jump in it without having to have experience of manouvering trailers I do have a bit of a soft spot for unimogs.... I was just trying to go with the head and not with the heart and explore the other options!!
  2. Not strictly for tree work.... mainly for ag fencing, but with a bit of ag contract/haulage work and landscaping/clearance.... I am looking for a large 4x4 tipper/dropside that I can use alongside my tractor for general haulage of posts, tools etc. It obviously needs to be pretty reasonable offroad as it has to follow where the tractor has been. I ve looked at unimogs (and am impressed) but am interested in alternatives.... I have the tractor so dont need a three point linkage/pto etc We ve been managing with a Discovery and trailer but its now too small, I initially thought of a LR130 tipper and trailer but think it ll be overloaded to easily Any suggestions? ex military? The list I have so far (including the odd mog) is Unimog U1300L Unimog U100L Leyland Daf 45/150 Bedford TM (probably getting a bit too big?) Bedford MJ There are probably many more options How do people rate the above? Budget is as much as neccesary but as little as possible! cheers
  3. There are some nice MB Trac pictures in this link...... MB TRAC W/ FORST EQUIP. - Benzworld.org - Mercedes-Benz Discussion Forum I dont think you have to join the forum to view them And a WF Trac just for viewing pleasure!!!
  4. Here is (was) mine Unfortunately I got a bit carried away offroading and it bears no resembalence anymore  I ll treat her to a full rebuild when time and funds are available
  5. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/12G-Alarm-Mine-Burgular-Alarm-Trip-Wire_W0QQitemZ220263717522QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item220263717522&_trkparms=72%3A1301%7C39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14 Always good for giving a fright! but i wouldnt have thought that would deter people if they realise that houses are far enough away to give them time to load up and dissappear before you arrive. Good luck!
  6. This is what I use..... a protech p3000 (and occassionally a kinghitter). I can work alone very easily, its fully adjustable by hydraulics, i just park the tractor then adjust it all to where i want to be..... rather than in and out the cab just to get the tractor in the right place. Also it means that if the post starts to wander (from hitting something underground etc) then i can 'pull' it back in line with the hydraulics. Having done a few thousand metres this year on my own, my suggestions for making one would be to use rope/pulleys, make it as adjustable as possible via hydraulics and to have the weight strike a plate (which has a spike to grip post) rather than directly onto the post. and obviously to have the largest striking weight as possible (the photo shows small post just for rabbit fencing, but the driver will happily band in 10" posts that havent even been pointed up!)
  7. I ve been reading this thread with interest as I had similar symptoms. I had been getting pins and needles in my left hand occasionally, it could last anything up to 3 or 4 days then nothing for a few months, nothing major or painful, but it had been going on for about a year. Then in august last year, it came back and stayed Within a month, my hand muscles were wasting away, the pain creeping towards my elbow. I ended up have x-rays, MRI scans, electric pulses sent through nerves etc I had a "start at the elbow and keep cutting till we find the problem" operation in march this year. I have a 9" scar on the inside of my elbow.... serious pain at the time, my whole arm turned the colour of an aubergine!! and i still struggle now as nerves take a long time to heal and my hand and arm are still very weak, but I would recommend it everytime! It has been a long recovery but i dread to think how long it would have been if it wasnt acted upon quickly the reason for my problems..... I had just changed jobs, starting as an agricultural contractor, using different muscles, which as the grew began pressing on my ulnar nerve
