I took the arm off because last time the ball joint went I used a kit, but couldn't change the inner part because it needed pressing out and to do that I needed to take the arm off. the price difference between the complete arm and a kit was very little so I have just changed the whole lot this time
i usually just run a weld (150amp) around the inner bush. as the weld / bush cools it contacts and shrinks by a fraction of a mm, enough to let it fall out without taking the arm off

what was the reason for taking the arm off?

every now and then mine does it, usually when i pull away without max air pressure. i just stop and sit with it in neutral and flick the lever side to side til you can hear the hiss of the ram.
yep nothing better than finding a box fuel of neutrals, just as you'v pulled on to a bizy road

Why dont you look at taking on someone with the right tickets? that way you can get on with the work you already have.
maybe even look at long term hiring a digger

I need to get a CSCS card sorted. As soon as i get it i can be working. A few questions:
Any idea how long it takes to come through once you've done the H and S test? and do you need the physical card before you can work or can i start whilst i'm waiting for it to arrive? any idea how how it takes to arrive?
you should be given a paper certificat at the test. valid as soon as you pass.
And does anyone know of any website or free resources where i can check out some example questions or find a syllabus so i can prepare for it?
theres a book. try looking on the net or talking to the test center
cheers

avant loader?

aah i see, its like that! If i hold down the aux pedal in the digger it makes the hydraulic pump creak/strain when the implement ram isnt in stroke, so unless i keep the logsplitter ram travelling all the time wont the digger hydraulic pump be strained all the time? Again, don't think this makes sense:blushing:
on your log splitter there should be a valve block? if so then it will circulate the oil when the rams not moving
Telegraph poles in central Scotland?
