Calling all Schliesing users, does any one know what they use for the black soundproofing during manufacture? And how to get the finish? And where I can get it, I'm in the middle of a refurb, Also do any of you guys use the "V" cut blade system? Would love to know what it's like, Thinking of getting it on our next machine. Thanks.

I see there is a new 750kg chipper on the market being the TW 230 DHB, has anyone seen one yet or demo'd one? I must say it does look sturdy, it'll take some to beat the Schliesing 175MX I'd say they've cracked it on the 750kg front. It's about time someone thought about these machines when designing them, we've had some right cow pats in recent times!

Has anyone got any tips on how to get 8 years worth of baked on chain oil off a Stihl barrel? rather than good old elbow grease! I did have a search through old threads, no avail. Cheers.

I used to think if there are any huge trees left out there for the 880, soon changed that view after a few jobs.

 

I love the 880, its just a monster. Should come with a kick start instead of pull start tho.

In this instance it's not a grey area, you use filters bought from them, that's it.

Ours has done 82 hours now and is fine so far.

 

One thing you may not realise is, you must buy genuine filters from Redwood for your guarantee to last the three years.

Thats a grey area and goes for any machine, as long as geuine filters are used and its serviced to spefication, they're should not be a problem, Kubota engine filters can be found at good prices on net, just quote engine model and number,Fuel filters to be honest doesnt make any difference what is fitted, you could put a inline sock in it and it would do the same job! (but use genuine to save greif) Hydraulic filters can be a little more tricky, but seems its built in the UK Id put money its got FBN ones in in it, which are readliy avalible. What is very important is the correct grade of engine oil is used, this is often overlooked and out weighs any brand of filter used. It all comes down to doing a bit of research to save a bit of wedge!

We've got one, its a fantastic piece of kit, the few niggles are the chip can get a bit dusty when wood is chipped along the grain, the top feed roller gets stuck up quite often again due to wood being chipped along the grain and the anvil and infeed chain comb need to be seam welded together because dust gets forced between the two pushing the comb into the chain. These points are really a bit insignificant considering how well it performs.

Ive done the metering height, given it a proper clean and blow out, still no joy, running like a dog, any ideas chaps?

Should be flush with the carb body. If its too high it may be your problem. With the ruler accross it it should just touch it. Not move it.

Ok thanks ill shift it a bit, not sure how its moved, the carbs not been touched. Any chance the pump piston might have anything to do with it?

Checked the meter arm height???

I'm not sure how high it needs to be? It does get pushed down when a ruler is put on it.

Could some one give me a bit of advice, I've got a running problem with a 361 it won't tick over, I know it the carb because I swapped it with one from another saw and it worked fine.

I've cleaned and blown it out, replaced the diaphrams and gaskets, cleaned the inlet valve, cleaned the H L jets and removed a small brass screw in the top and cleaned. Still no joy, it's a Walbro carb, any help much appreciated. Thanks.

Forget all that, would be better to spend some money on a little training in Arc or MMA, then you can opperate any machine knowing what the knobs do! and be able to get the desired weld.

If you we're to get solicitors involved which sounds like a good idea in this case, I would say that discussing the situation with written word may not such be a good idea. Even though one has been implicated by name. The defence will find anyway by any means they can to worm out of something.

why does any one chip anything when firewood is threw the roof

In our case due to the sheer amount we get, about 3000 ton a year, there is not the demand for that amount of fire wood in the south east.

The Jensen dealer Redwood have been really good we had a small niggle with one of ours, the fitter was at our yard at 7am to fix it, had us out to work by 8, well impressed. I can't knock G/M tho they are very helpfull too.

The quadchip is 750kg machine and pretty much the same capacity as the TW150, I expect the GM would perform better on the brash,built pretty much the same, judging by the sort of work your doing, I'd recommend the Jensen A540 turntable, by far the best machine I've used by for a long time, 8" capacity, weighs about 1100kg and 50hp. To be fair the quadchip and Jensen can't be compared, horses for corses they say.

I think the new G/M arborist 150 is a better choice, the quad chip was one step too far in weight saving, ours has not been too great to be honest had all manner of trouble with it, be sure to spec the square blades, I think their only a option now. Don't be too hasty to rule out the Germans, they still do some tidy machines, price can be an issue though, but do have good residual.
