Thanks Bob, I got the tripod off a customer ages ago, he was going to throw it out until I showed an interest. Comes in handy testing new knots and hitches! I think it used to be used in rescue and access to drains/potholes. As for the splice, no way a needle will go through apart from about 2" down from the eye. Will that be ok?

Got it through in the end:thumbup: Suffering now though, every part of both hands are blistered lol And the tripod used to hang off trying to do the crossover lol

Very interesting thread! Last night I had the hare-brained idea to splice an eye into my *used* marlow climbing rope... BIG mistake!! 5 hours later I was in too much pain to pull the crossover out, blisters on blisters:cursing: This morning I decided to pull the last couple of inches through. Im only using a piece of general gardening wire which I doubt I could stress too much, don't fancy snapping it and starting over!! Ordered some piano wire off ebay so next time it'll be easier and i'll use new rope. There is only about 3/4" left to do now so i'll stop moaning and go get it done:thumbup1:

You want to fit a damper valve inside the chimney. It would mean drilling through the side of the chimney breast for the handle that is connected to the rotating plate.

I'm not sure about the police using the heat/light cameras but almost positive it's the power companies using the thermal cameras to detect dodgy power lines and such. Saw it on tv a while back. As for the growing, are you watering/feeding by hand or automated? Automation is a BIG time saver and the plants will thrive:thumbup: Been doing tomatoes and chillies under lights for a while and have it sussed now:001_cool:

Last Tuesday we were taking out this eucalyptus from hell. The owner brought us out a coffee and we started talking. She said she'd just been diagnosed with MS and was worried about how it would affect her later in life. I told her about my uncle who was diagnosed about 25 years ago and how it didn't stop him living life to the full. After talking for a while she went to pick her son up from school. Within a couple of minutes i got a phone call from my sister telling me this same uncle had just died an hour earlier!!! It must be 5 years since i last saw him and i've never mentioned him to anyone before. So this time tomorrow i'll be halfway to Lancs for his funeral and a piss-up. Sorry for the long rambling post, i'll blame it on the bottle of whisky i'm drinking:drunk:
