  1. Cheers chaps. Chris the chipper is from thorne engineers up in York.
  2. With all the building site work we do my Boss decided quite a few months ago it would be practical to get a mog. So finally last week it arrived! Here it is in action after it rained last Thursday making this building site very boggy but no problem for the mog! The chipper is brilliant too, its 7inch and reconditioned. We've painted the chip box dark green since, aswel as the cabstar.
  3. Crown lifting along a busy road, it was good fun swinging from tree to tree. We hired traffic lights from A plant, no problems there. and heres a small beech hedge I've planted for my Mother!
  4. Reduced a Yew last week and burnt my shoulders in the blazing heat And this beech had to be cut back off the street light so the council could paint it

    crane job

Looks good, I'd love to do a crane job. What cuts do you use?
  10. Buying a quad has worked out a lot cheaper than having to hire out a track chipper everytime we're in a boggy woodland. Its good fun at lunch time to unhitch the chipper and go for a burn as well There's a hole in the exhaust too, it sounds meaty!
  11. Really impressed with the Jensen A530. Regular maintenance wise there’s 3 grease points for the feed rollers that need greasing daily that are easily accessible and two blades that are easy to replace. We can happily tow it using a cab star. As long as you can get the butt to the feed rollers it will grab and smash any fork to fit through the 6x8 gap. They have mobile workshops that will come out to you on site and they have any spare part available to bring with them, fortunately we haven't had to use it. I have done work with a company that have a 7 inch schliesing. It’s a really good chipper but you need at least a 7.5 tonne to tow and compared to the Jensen they are more expensive, slightly bigger and heavier. Used an old petrol timberwolf and was really impressed with it as well as an old N-tec but I think they were made by timberwolf anyway, advantages of them is that they are cheaper than the Jensen but I don't know about the maintenance of them. First chipper we had was a 6 inch Greenmech but it spent more time in the workshop, had problems with electrics, bearings and it caught on fire. Had to snedd every single fork to get anything through it, bad times. Heard good things about vermeer's, never used one. I would reccommend Jensen.
  12. The Jensen is a quality chipper, had it nearly a year now and not a single fault as apposed to the greenmech which just wasn't up for the job and rattled to pieces. Hire track chipper and borrowed tractor form the yard.
  13. We have a cabstar which is great for getting in small places and has a decent size body, but its very cramped at times with 3 men, a jack russel, lunch and waterproofs. Its slow with a full load and very slow towing a chipper, but its better all round than our mates transit who helps out form time to time. Does anyone have an opinion on the 3.5 Mitsubishi Canter?
  14. I was searching for jobs abroad (just considering) on google and this forum popped up and i was hooked.
  15. Hi all from the South West here. Been climbing for 2 years now for a company in the Bristol area. Here are a few pictures taken last summer. Great forum! Bloody Poplars
