  1. How was it done? Can see the mog I'm guessing a pulley in another tree?
  2. Give these a ring tommorow they might know where there's one. 01617482513
  3. U seem to know a bit about this, why can't they make a turbine where the blades twist so when it's too windy they can twist the blades and it'll turn slower? There must be a reason why not though. I'm sure they do it in variable vane turbo's
  4. Sorry for asking a question that is so obvious, I clearly wasn't born with the knowledge you must have been born with! Unfortunately until i know everything about tree work I'll have to keep asking questions and using the forum for what it's for!
  5. Steve that's Similar to what I'd thought of doin, nice one
  6. Yeah sorry forgot the pic doesn't show the actual set up tho Never thought of sending it up on the climbing line, doh! I would of liked one of them stein things but they seem a but dear to me. Cheers guys
  7. Just wondering what you guys do to keep hold of your rope? I'm still new to lowering, Did the following tree today put the pulley on the stem in the centre, or just left of centre of the pic on the big fork. This was the only one really due to a very narrow garden and house behind and for ease of use for groundie. But I was having trouble on the other stems that once I'd cut and they'd been lowered off was struggling to get the rope back to me again, normally he just flicks it and I can grab it but as i was quite a way from the pulley and not much height difference between me and the pulley we struggled a few times, once or twice I had to come part way down. Anyone got a tip or method they use? Have thought of putting a krab and some rope round it and tying it to me then I can pull it back up, if that makes sense? Cheers
  8. I had those on my last ifor when I bought it think they were michelins size 6.00x9 can't get that particular tyre now though http://item.mobileweb.ebay.co.uk/viewitem?itemId=150661153723
  9. This is why I put the thread up so I could find out how to anchor on the stem, I can choker a sling on to stand on aswell when making the last cut put it's getting down after that I was stuck on, cheers for replies
  10. Not too high final cut but I don't have any ladders and it's a drag across a golf course with gear so the less equipment the better. Anyone recommend a pulley or will any do? Cheers mike
  11. No dead wood on it not sure on age it's only about 6' high but about the same width too. Im burning the logs tonite just to be sure!
  12. It seems ok, it's not fruited much this year but don't they have a rest year sometimes?
  13. Nice on cheers for that on Wikipedia it says it's airborne? Is that right should I worry about the logs in my garden with it on as there's an apple tree about 15 metres away?
  14. Yep it was that colour. What is it? Cheers mike
  15. I found this today while splitting some logs which is similar but a lighter colour, may help id may not
  16. Lastly can anyone recommend a cambium saver and pulley? I was looking at the stein ones as there cheapest what length would you say? Cheers for the help
  17. To be honest I don't do ladders don't like them at all! What would you use instead of a cambium saver?
  18. So when u want to retrieve that setup do you just tie a knot in the rope which jams in the pulley. I've just found the same idea in a book but didn't use a pulley is there a reason you use it? Cheers for the replies.
  19. Ok just been out and took a couple of pics the first one is how I visioned it then realised it won't be retrievable?? The second I can't see being safe. Should of said it is basically for use on a stem so can't pass over a limb etc. Cheers mike
  20. Ok I'm ready for a ribbing on this one but having never needed to install a false anchor or use one, I can't remember how to do it! Basically ive been asked to near enough pollard a tree and so I'll be left with no anchor usually I'd use spikes but obviously can't this time, so I'd thought about using a cambium saver and chokering it with itself by putting the small eye through the big one, but then realised I'd not be able to get it down, I'm presuming you can't put the climbing rope through both eyes as the saver won't be safe? If that makes sense. Failing that I'll have to do a firemans pole and slide down it
  21. Haha it looked similar to hams pic but not that colour or cracked like that.it was a dead bit in the crown though. Suppose I'll never know, should of snapped it whilst I remembered.
  22. No mate it was just like primer paint with a porous texture
