1. Haha, yup that was the one! Really impressive machine, think Avondale came down on an another day to take some pics and video. We're selling the chip to Stobarts and they were really impressed with the quality of the chip. All round awesome bit of kit!
  2. Got chipper from Avondale in the end, was out on the job yesterday, it's an awesome bit of kit!! We've been chipping into the back of one of our lorries which is 15 cubic metre cappacity, and done 5 laods a day to the farmers yard we've got permission to dump in, which is only 100 yards from where we're cutting. Would deffinatly recommend the machine, it's made the job for us Thanks again for everyones input and suggestions. Will try to post up some pictures at some point.
  3. Thanks for all the helpfull info guys I've passed on the details to my boss and will let you all know how it goes! Any more contacts are welcome though!

Hi Marc,

We are looking to hire a whole tree chipper for five days in a couple of weeks. We need a back up plan as the person we've been intouch with hasn't been intouch to confirm! I posted a thread on Sunday about it. Large chipper needed Urgent. Take a look if you get chance and see if you'd be able to help or not.

  5. Hi all My company are in need of a 24inch (minimum) chipper attached to a unimog (or similar). We are based near Sevenoaks in Kent, the job it's needed for is in Appledor. It's a load of straight willows that are being pollarded. It's a five day job with a crane on site and road closure. The road is very narrow so the chipping up unit needs to be along the road, not a side feed, if that makes sense?? Hence having it attatched to a unimog that it can chip straight into would be ideal. We would want to hire the unit, with opperator for the five days. It's happening in two weeks (17th march) so if anyone is interested please get intouch asap! We are waiting to hear back from a company but need a back up plan as they are leaving it very late to confirm!! Any help or interest just PM me and let me know how much you would charge. Thanks in advance

    Oak trunks

Hopefully pictures have come up! Back stem is 285cm x 65cm diam and front one is 385 x 85cm. If anyone is interested in buying these for milling please get in touch. Our yard is near Sevenoaks in Kent. You can mill here on site if it's easier we just don't have the room to store planks or the timber and I'm trying to find a way of saving it from being logged! But obviously still get some money for it Any questions welcome either on this thread or PM me. Cheers

Hi

Nepia (Jon) told me to get in touch with you. Have got a largeish stick of Oak in the yard, aprox 10 feet long and 60cm diameter. It's got a little bit of a rot pocket off to one side and some shake where it was felled but if your interested give me a shout.

Would be a shame to just log it up!

Cheers

  8. I know this is a tricky question, and massively dependent on alot of factors! But, if split logs are stored outside in breathable bulk bags what is a reasonable time for them to be out there before they are good to burn?? I don't really have any other option except to store them outside. Have wondered about covering the bags somehow but don't want to limit the airflow getting to the bags. Any input or sugestions welcome
  9. Ok, another one, what prefrences do people have on hardwoods? Which are great and which would you not poke with a burning stick!?
  10. Thanks guys, all reall good info
  11. Wondering which ones are best for burning and which ones arn't worth the effort? Or ones I should find a better use for? Thoughts and experiance please?
  12. Thoughts and experiance please?
  13. Hey I'm sure it's been talked about before, but wondering what everyone else does with the wood they get from tree jobs that they can't chip or burn? We try to process what we can into logs but looking for some bright ideas on how to get money for it without having to have it hanging about in the yard forever!
  14. Do you think you could pass my number on to him? We get it in ocassionaly and if he wants to buy it rather than me split it i'm happy to sell Will PM you
  15. Peoples thought's on Laburnum for logs? I read somewhere it's not great and has an akrid smoke! Anyone any experiance with it?
  16. Thanks guys all really good info and comments. We're still trying to get to grips with the best way off marketing our logs. And we have limited space for storage so i'm trying to concentrate more on the hardwood we get in as sales will go better for that than the soft. But I think I will start to mix in the soft with the hard loads (just a token amount) and market it for woodburning stoves, keeping all hardwood loads for open fires or stoves. We're based out of Sevenoaks in kent if anyone is interested in buying some conifer, PM me Thanks again guys!
  17. What's peoples opinions on softwood for logs? We get a fair amount of it and i've been logging it up but not convinced given the choice between a softwood mixed load or all hardwood I'll get that much of it sold. Wondering if it's worth finding a diffrent outlet for the softies.......
  18. Hi all I work for a tree surgery company out near sevenoaks in Kent. We run two lorries with grabs on so bring back some big timber occasionaly. Lengths and diameter vary. All sorts of species. Looking for interest and advice on selling the timber. Cheers guys

    Wood for sale!

Sorry forgot to say where were based! Near Sevenoaks in Kent
  21. Hi all I'm looking for some other outlets for our wood. We log what we can and have space to store but i'm rapidly running out of space! I'd like to get a few buyers on board for our wood so that it can be better controlled. I work for a tree surgery company so we get all sorts of wood in all diffrent sizes! Ideally it would involve coming and getting the wood from our yard, but other options can be discussed. Please get in touch if your interested or have any ideas what I can do! Cheers guys
  22. I might be able to get her to e-mail me a pic. I could just take in the sides.....i don't know.....maybe i'll just leave them for now.....never like to do work just for the sake of it....
  23. Has anyone got any pictures of regrowth after reduction on Fastigiata Hornbeams?!?! I've a friend with two, but don't want to work on them if the regrowth will look to un-natural. She's happy to leave them if this is the case.
  24. I'm still reluctant to do these Hornbeam untill i can see that the re-growth will look ok.....really don't want to mess up such lovely shaped trees
  25. So the re-growth wont look too odd?? really don't want to mess up the look of these trees, she's happy to leave them if it's gonna look wrong. Don't suppose you've any pictures of a prunned one with new growth??
