  1. I thought we were getting shafted at £1.19 a litre but no that is not enough for the git's it is now £1.34 a litre!!!!!!!! Bugger.
  2. Thank's for the suggestion's, did think that a few more of you learned people would of had suggestion's though!!
  3. I know from previous post's on here that a lot of us use shipping container's for secure kit storage, what is the best way to ventilate one without compromising its security. I presume cut a couple of holes either end and weld a "shroud" over the top to keep the rain out ? Cheer's.
  4. Hilarious, what a tube!
  5. Where did you get your's from ? Smart looking truck roughly what weight will she carry?
  6. Where did you get your's from ?
  7. Just got a set from saturn on thursday very quick delivery, reasonably priced seem good so far.
  8. Look's like a nice truck.
  9. Thinking of getting a 130 tipper, who on here uses them and how do you get on with them.
  10. Yeah too right , and i barely scratched the surface!!!
  11. Cheer's guy's i wasn't a million miles away with how i had them setup. Need to practice footlocking to use the double! and for the single's use a shorter sling. Should you use a prussick loop as back up?
  12. The first contractor i worked for when i finished college was a farly tight sort. He would rather spend time fecking about making his own tool's rather than spend a few quid and buy the real mccoy! For example why buy a hi-lift when you could make one out of old off cut's. Spike's ? Waste of money what you really need is an old coal hammer and a selection of six inch nail's and old bolt's (recycled of course !) sharpened to a point, just hammer them in as you need them! Steel cord strop ? what you really need is a steel cable with an eye spliced either end , just the same as one of those fancy gimmick type one's but available from our local chandler's for only a tenner! Expensive bull/work rope's ? I think not, what you need is an old rope that has been used by a farmer as a tow rope and used to tie the silage bale's onto his trailer, need i go on? Funny looking back on it now but a little odd at the time! I won't mention any name's but i'm sure some of you will know who i'm talking about!!
  13. Is there anyone on here, or anything on the net or in any book's that can demonstrate the correct use of ascender's. I've borrowed a set from a mate who never has used them and isn't sure how to either ! there are two single's, a left and a right. And also there is a double, i've had a quick play but the way i set them up is definately wrong any advice would be great!!
  14. I've been following this thread with interest as i'm needing a 3.5 tonne truck, had an ldv reasonably new what a pos dash rattled, slow crap at towing when trying to get up hill's wouldn't have another! Seem's jap vehicles are the way to go , either a canter, cabstar etc. Could do with extra room in the cab for jacket's, dog, staff so maybe a crew cab would be a good idea. Does anyone rate the iveco's as they seem to be pretty good tool's?
  15. How many people needed for a crew ?
  16. Yeah but can't convince swmbo that it's not just a toy!! I see some of the lad's on here rate the cabstar are they that good?
  17. I've had a couple of Tanaka hedge trimmer's in the past and still do excellent machine's dont get used all winter, fresh fuel in the summer and they alway's started no problem. But i've had the misfortune to use their top handled saw, complete waste of money fecking useless! Chain break used to bend before it came on, bloody dangerous thing wouldn't use one if it was given to me, or even if i was paid to use it which in hindsight i was when i started out!
  18. Hi what size of back would be available on a 130 crew cab tipper i assume it would be pretty small and probably not worth the money!? Generally the off road ability is more for moving kit not necessarily for towing the chipper/trailer off road. i Didn't make that very clear in my origional post.
  19. Jonesie. Had a look at the ls 550 and decided to go for it Should arrive at somepoint next week cheer's for pointing me in the right direction.
  20. Used to have a LDV had no gut's at all slow didn't even describe it. Hated it with a vengence and it wasn't even all that old! Would a crew cab lose you a hell of a lot of carrying capacity due to the shorter tipper length ? Hard core for the yard would make sense, although some of my work is in muddy field's where a 3.5 tonner wouldn't go.
  21. Cut up a large Beech with butt rot this week, after all the storm's we've been having up here. Anyway once it had been rung up, i noticed a golf ball that had some how ended up inside the tree and the tree had continued to grow round it. I only noticed it as the 660 had sliced a bit off the side of the ball. Quite strange will download a couple of pic's from my camera when i figure out how to and post em on here!
  22. Read a few of the thread's on here about people's work truck's. Most of us have similar requirement's regarding vehicle's and have varying solution's to the problem, it seem's to be a matter of weighing up the pro's and con's of each and making a decision based on money and how big a company you run. My self, more arb work in winter, storm damage general tree maintenance and smaller domestic client's. Summer totally different, grass contract's hedge cutting and the odd big take down and usually load's of Leylandii ! For the small contractor in my situation with only summer staff and subbies in the winter and a mutt all year round what would you suggest as a likely candidate. Need to be able to carry chip or grass cutting's. Plus mower's, strimmer's,saw's other kit depending on time of year. Be able to tow chipper or pull plant trailer. Also fairly able to get in slightly muddy yard. Bit of a tall order to fit all thiss criteria! Discuss. And thank's for reading if you got this far.
  23. Howdy folk's been a bit of a lurker on here for a while and have load's of question's to ask you knowledgable guy's and girl's. is there any etiquette to asking stuff, many varied opinion's sought. But don't want to piss anyone off by just asking stuff and not seeming to contribute much otherwise to the forum! Great forum by the way and you all seem to be a good bunch with lot's of experience to draw upon! Cheer's Cordwood.
  24. 15 tonne ram,can be used either vertically for bigger ring's or horizontal for smaller stuff. Road tow just for moving it about the yard. Anything to make life easier!
