Thanks Frank.I was feeling confident, in my kit, in my knowledge of the wood i was climbing and a lot of advice from LSD a more experinced climber than me.Came away from it feeling confident and have started looking at other big trees thinking 'yes i can climb that'. Were goning back there and to some other big trees to push my self more.
  6. As i wrote SWB its a bit piontless if you dont get the rare stag beetle up there which i dont think you do.Might be good for other invertebrates thou.leaf and twig and old bits of wood, grass cuttings compost are good for hedge hogs too.

  10. You could do a stag beetle pyramid. That involves a lot more graft thou, well depends on the height and the amount of footings. basically turn the logs vertical and place them in the ground a few feet small ones on the outside and larger ones inside let it rot, stag beetles get in lay their eggs.Eggs stay there for five years, beetles eat their way out...hey presto red data species happy and ready to breed again. Dont know if you get them were you are though. I know we get them down south in warmer climates.
  11. Cheers Mick mate.Did enjoy it lots , good challenge for me that tree. Wore my work boots was going to wear my work trousers too but the ole bits do get a bit hot in those.
  12. I agree yes good work postion is better. I mainly have them to cut down on knocks/scratches and cuts from rough bark/branches and as an extra safety feature for 02s.

Walking in the great British countryside, and the great landscapes of this green and pleasant land of ours,good looking women and watching the sunrise over the horizon whilst on top off glastonbury tor whilst drinking beer,incense burning and with lutes and drums playing on the summer solstice.

  18. Dont think they do them for necks or upper body Mike.I did always wonder why we wear protective trousers and arms but not for our torsos. Nice piccies LSD, maybe your head looks funny due to when i re sized the pics for here. Thanks for a good day.
  19. LSD and me did think about didgitaly changing the arm protectors to arm bands..yes.
  20. there all in the wash Joe, plus i still tend to find branches crawl up my arm even with long sleeves..think its a tree conspiracy:001_tongue:
  21. No limb walks...should have done.Just glad i got that high that was the goal..were going back to do some more climbs on it and il do some them..one step at a time for me...get my confidence up.
