i dont remember anyone phoning me up for a truck load of kindling, unless you got alot of outlets to sell it by the bag then you'd be stuck with piles of it. if you have a truck full of small logs and kindling mixed together wouldnt it be a nightmare to sort out? what you need it two trucks one for kindling, one for logs. i like the idea but im struggling with how you do it efficiently on site?

im no tv expert but surely too many braids will make the knott too long? better to add a wrap if its not gripping?

Do you need to have a stiched eye friction cord or can you tie your own? If so what termination knot would you use. Double fishermans? Or should that be a triple fishermans?
you dont need a spliced eye but im sure they are safer. ive always tie double fishermans with plenty of tail.
-
how much are you selling them for jonesie?

is anyone using that ocean cord, if so is 8 or 10mm ?
-
im thinking of trying a 10mm cord does anyone use 10mm on a vt/hitch combo?

Whats the benefit of using this system over a basic prussik/french loop system?
I've stuck with the old ways for the last 13 odd years but I'd be interested to know if I'm missing out on something.
the benefits are blown out of proportion imo. ive never got the system to self tend, apparently it does but you need to pretty high so the weight of the rope pulls the slack thro. i find holding the rope with the left hand and pulling the stack thro more strenuous then id like. also making small ascending adjustments is more difficult then with a prussik/split tail as you have to take into account the sitback of the hitch. you could also argue that adding an extra pulley and carabina to the system makes it more complicated, time comsuming and expensive. the pluses are you can pull yourself up with 2 hands which is nice and ?

its tricky cuz i think the saw is ok, ive spent alot on it already and am loathed to spend anymore on a secondhand saw. id never by another secondhand top handle again. ive checked the compression and it seems ok.
thing is when you first fire it up it runs ok, its only after a while it starts dropping slighty in power and blows some smoke (not loads). maybe your right about this fuel shut off lever thing. i only wish i new how to do it myself.

haha, yeah i found out the scary way. i dont reckon you can get a sling tight enough to stop the kapstan sliding up the tree. I'l try get some pictures of the snapped strap and the kapstan i used. I think the eges of it could be too sharp and may needed a little more grinding or sanding.
if its a take down cut some small grooves/gobs into truck and tighten the sling into them. ive never had one slip out.

my army gortex jacket cost £25, its been through hawthorn etc had it 2 years and not 1 rip. only downside is its not hi vis, infact its low vis but you wont buy a tougher
waterproofer jacket.
-
buy a whoopie sling, ive never like the idea of those either
