they were small, probably 20 foot. the thorns were nasty about i inch long, the bark was more like cherry then apple and it didnt have any fruit on it at that time. the leaves were small like crab

that clip is funny, no ppe with foot on log! looked like softwood also, still cut very fast tho. bet the kick back on that mutha would be nasty.

wild pear, could well be, thanks alot. they said that the fruit was unedible and i just read up on it and it says that the fruits can be really hard.

whats the method? im planning on going down the tv,hitch climber, 11m climbing line route but i cant get my head around how you body thrust with this set up?

i think they feed mainly on unseasoned poplar

why do some trees weep? eg weeping ash, is this just a freak ash that has been cultivated?
do crab apple trees have spikes? i was working on a few today that had big thorns? the bark looked like cherry and the leafs looked like crab apple but with big thorns?

i agree you might save 30 quid but i got mine from a place which does very good repair/servicing so if it goes tits up i know it will be sorted.

thanks alot everyone for the good advise. i think as a temp thing i will get away will it. im only doing the odd day for myself here and there. i wish i hadnt brought the saw now, its the perfect ground saw for snedding but now im climbing i dont really need it as is only got an extra inch then my 200.
when going for a bigger saw what stihl would you go for 36,44,46,66?

hi everyone this is my first post.
anyone tried this combination? i can't afford a bigger saw at the moment so i was thinking of putting an 18" bar on my 26. will i be pissing in the wind?

i wear my hiflex type c's everyday. does anyone know if there are any other trousers with the same amount of layers but with better outer material? i find the hiflex rip too easy.
