A 19mm rope on a 21mm dead eye sling and a big isc pulley is a topping down strop!
in a tight spot rigging down smaller stuff, isnt that topping strop a little excessive?
-
maybe one day we will be as good as you guys, who knows?

What is a topping down strop?
mine is a length of 13mm rope with a big dan carabina on the end. i use it instead of a block or pulley for rigging down light stuff.

-
do they work? i have only ever heard generally negative reviews about them? i use a standard steel wedge when required and had always wondered about the effectiveness of the wood grenades, are they worth the premium in cost over a standard wedge
yes they work, i picked one up the other day from screw fix. tried it out on some big sycamore rings and it split them in half.the axe would just bounce off it.
-
thanks to jonesie for the split tail that i won. i got the price list and will be buying some gear in the new year.
now what to do with a 3.5m 13mm split tail, anyone? so far im thinking lanyard or making a topping down strop?
