  1. Just to clarify. Saws running on idle with fuel cap slightly loose to allow air in? I can do so. What’s the diagnosis if they a) idle fine or b) cut out please?
  2. My Husqvarna 560 XP is doing the same. Any ideas? Fuel mix is 50:1 Husqvarna XP 2-sroke mixed only by me. Starts and works perfectly but when turned off after 20+ minutes work won’t restart. Plugs checked, ht lead checked, fuel correct, air filter clear. When left a day restarts instantly though 🤨

  4. I can’t understand such intraspecific dimorphism within the exact same location and growing conditions.
  5. Has anyone else noticed some European Copper beech trees having different bark texture that is more textured, almost ribbed? I believe this to be Fagus sylvatica f. Purpurea or am I mid-identifying? It’s growing right next to a copper beech with normal smooth nark. I’ve seen this on a few specimens in the South Yorkshire area in domestic gardens.
  6. Probably too late on this but I’ve recently had problems with my Husqvarna 365 X-Torque. The unit simply wouldn’t restart at times. When started it ran fine until it needed restarting. A good chainsaw mechanic finally diagnosed it was the tank vacuum for the fuel. Harder pull starts may start it but when the fuel cap was removed and replaced this simple procedure allowed an easy restart. Not ideal but better than replacing whatever was needed.
  7. So the problem was caused most definitely by me or as my girlfriend said, doing a Prince Andrew and tampering where I shouldn’t! So when I unplugged and plugged the head unit back in I went one plug too far to the right and managed to fry a diode. I disengaged the whole junction box and took it to Nova Electronics WWW.NOVA-ELECTRONICS.CO.UK Sample They’re based in Sheffield and charged only £35 for a fix that took them 1-day. Plugged it all back in and hey presto it worked. So be very careful when messing in the junction box that you plug back in correctly as the space between the pins is small and it’s possible to cross over very easily. Ensure you disconnect battery too which I’m guessing would have saved me all this trouble.
  8. Just a quick update on the forward roller problem. As always I ought to have started on the easier fix options first. It was the Hirschmann plug that connects to the Vickers solenoid valve that was faulty. My auto electrician performed a quick fix and hey presto forward motion. Jason Hutch from GreenMech kindly sent me a pair of new Hirschmann plugs which will be fitted this week 👌🏼
  9. It seems I’m getting zero voltage on the 2 pins (1 & 2) on the head unit labelled “POWER +V” see diagram. When I originally plugged in I was 1 plug to the right which seems to have been the start of the power problem when I was trying to solve the roller problem! The earth wire is tight and intact. All fuses are intact. Is it possible to repair PCB’s. There’s no actual visual sign of damage.
  10. Recently I’ve tightened my earth wire, disconnected cleaned & reconnected terminals in junction box and blown the whole unit clean with blower. Now I’ve zero power despite my multi meter saying there is power. Any ideas? ps all terminals are reconnected exactly as they were
  11. Many thanks. I’m flat out and it’s just getting me by. I’ll give it a good inspection with your helpful advice on a quieter day or day off. Seems everything boils down to a faulty solenoid 😅. Are the parts cheap and easily sourced please?
  12. There seems to be intermittent connectivity on the forward rollers kicking in which is the big half spherical black button. If you hold the button down for 20-30seconds it seems to understand. Then maybe it will take rollers forward on first press. Any help would be much appreciated. It doesn’t seem like a bad connection to me but I could be wrong.

  15. Discovered a live wood pigeon’s nest with 4 eggs. All eggs were warm and entire and fresh and mother returned to sit the eggs. I’ve always seen 2 eggs or chicks. 3 is considered exceptional. Has anyone ever come across this during their arb careers please? I was amazed and yes checked that one wasn’t a cuckoo’s egg for clarity.
  16. Sounds exciting. How long is the position for and is it domestic or commercial work?
  17. It should be an easy Google search but I’m getting many conflicting answers. In England as a business what’s the legal times, from and to, that I can do chainsaw work, chipping & hedge trimming, on a) Sunday and b) all other days. I’m getting conflicting answers and can’t find a definitive answer. There must be legislation that encompasses all commercial tree & shrub work for England?

  23. I have the same machine 350 hours. The spring is 10 months old and fully tensioned but I have a similar problem. Especially on conifer I’m forever reversing and forwarding and pushing through conifer. With apparently full spring tension the rollers look about 2” too far apart. The spring feels ok but not taught. Could it be that someone before me has put the wrong spring inside?
  24. There’s been some confusion due to switching chain brake handles around and therefore mistakenly identified on year! Yes this is M-Tronic so no screws. When did M-Tronic come in for the MS201T?
