  1. Poster called 'JUSTME' - thought I wanted to keep the 2 splitters electric - No we want to disconnect existing electric splitter's electric motors and pumps and run new 1/2" pipework direct from tractor hydraulics to splitters spool valves.
  2. Quite agree - but realised the title was wrong on 1st post and knowone would bother to post. - point taken thanks.
  3. Sorry, we were considering using the existing tractor hydraulics to run 1 or 2 splitters. Planned to scrap the existing pipework and just keep the spool valves on the splitters. I would need to check the spec on the existing pumps on the 2 splitters - they are v small though.
  4. Has anyone out there experience of connecting 2x 7 tonne electric splitters to a 35HP tractor hydraulics - with a max flow rate of 20 ltrs/min at PTO speed? I accept specific hydraulic regulators may need to be purchased etc. The tractor is fitted with a pair quick release hydraulic couplings already.
  5. The reason to run off tractor is to increase the flow rate to rams on splitter as just painfully slow as they are. Disconnecting existing splitter pumps completely.
  6. Sorry should have read - £100 relates to 1 M3 split logs delivered to end user. (NOT PER TONNE)
  7. Round these parts those advertising Firewood appear to consider it clever to undercut those who are sensible enough to try to raise the base price, especially for hardwood. Hardwood should be 100/tonne minimum and we should all stop offering 100% hardwood - those in the business all know the many reasons why. If everyone used their intelligence they would realise that they should all be reading from the same page - that way we all win as we start getting a realistic price for timber and those mechanically and manually harvesting the crop make a half decent living also. At the moment most of us are just static due to the overheads of running our respective businesses and if something large goes bang, we are inclined to think - is it worth it.

  9. "most of the timber left to process is too big to man handle so will have to wait for next year now and just pray for long cold winter." How do you process the big timber?
  10. At least you live in the cold North, only had 2 frosts down here last year!
  11. You can buy 'cheap and cheerfull' but this unitis built to last, which I expect Is high on your list of Specs.
  12. This is just what you need - can run it on 2 x 50 metre cable together in series! Kemppi Minarc Evo 150 inverter 240 volt 61002150 from Weldmet Ltd - welding equipment and consumables
  13. How do you mechanically handle the 15 tonne pile of loose logs when you tip them your end?
  14. Here here! (we've got an Iveco)
  15. I just thought you meant you manually handled timber at some stage of your production process, but in fact you don't - so sorry I assumed you did.
  16. JAS P have a 3 phase used one in 2007 19,995.00 + vat
  17. Agreed, few of us have front linkage tractors for the Processor, a roof crane plus a 15 tonne trailer and not many customers want 15 tonnes green wood dumped on their drive.
  18. Agreed, Lascos certainly do the job but try processing what they produce and the resulting logs don't look great. A bit like 1/4ring up large rings then putting them through the processor with a 6 way knife fitted - not a pretty sight! Roundwood processing at size - that's the future.
  19. Rabaud make some insane kit - there will be a range of their processing equip. at the APF if anyone is interested. We were until we saw some price tags!
  20. Stroke of luck getting the saw though.
  21. At what stage of production do you handle the timber manually?
  22. 16" bar in a Holm Oak - not for long sevice life! 14" perfect match - not a miss-match.
