  1. Do you normally branch walk out to your right? I can see it would work fine going that way, with the adjuster on the right. With regard to Ropeman, the new version with tiny spikes would be perfect for this application, the old rope chopping versions less suited. The advantage with the tiny mechanical adjuster is that you dont lose any length off the bridge. You could make a smaller prussic adjuster using 5 or 6mm cord, like Tom Dunlap uses on his lanyard. Even something rated at less than ideal for life support would be ok provided the bridge rope ran through the small hole, where it normally goes, and you tie a stopper knot as a backup to the micro hitch cord.
  2. I'm going straight out tomorrow and buying a brand new truck and chipper. If we all did that the economy would be straightened out in no time!
  3. Have they given you a list of what to buy? If so, whats on it?
  4. Try dressing to the left for a change......
  5. I have the biggest ISC, no complaints.

  11. Girth hitched to the tree with a large whoopie sling no doubt?
  12. Attach to any suitable anchor point, be it another tree, or the towbar of the transit.
  13. Labs dont understand television.
  14. The worldwide sales figures beg to differ.
  15. Good job you dont let her watch the discovery channel. Her tiny collie brain might just explode!
  16. One size fits nearly everyone. Does take some people a while to find the sweet spot. I got mine out of the box, put it on and went to work. I have adjusted it a bit here and there, but its been pretty comfy without any great effort. In fact, some people wont let anyone else climb in their TM in case something is adjusted and they cant get it back to how they like it!

  18. Should drum up some interest eh? Loads of people on here looking for free stuff!
  19. Should that email have said new look rather than new loot Steve?
  20. Purely conjecture.
  21. Of course, if you make the gob too big, and there is weight against the direction of fell, the tree can just fall over backwards. Very embarrassing.
  22. The Sordin muffs will fit both helmets.
  23. Prevention is better than cure, I realised a few years ago that work related injuries, ie back pain, and muscle strains, are a mugs game. I dont care whether you are self employed, run your own business, or are employed, injuries reduce your productivity. I dont struggle lifting big logs, I cut them in half or get someone to help me lift it. I use safe handling and lifting techniques. I never body thrust long distances. I use one of the most expensive harnesses on the market, because I find it comfortable and it doesnt cause me pain. If I'm contracting, I put enough money on the job to get in whatever I need to make it easy, whether that is machinery or manpower. If I'm contract climbing, I take enough time to do the job safely and efficently. I dont work for companies who dictate otherwise. As an employee, I realised one day that I had had back ache for about 2 years. I'd wake up with it, work with, go to bed with it. I changed my mattress, which helped a bit, and I changed my job, which helped a lot! In short, your body is your most valuable asset. You can replace chainsaws or harnesses, but you cant buy new shoulder muscles. Your only chance of a decent career in this industry is to look after yourself.
  24. You could be right there, I almost never use painkillers, as I dont find they do anything for me. Anti-inflammatories (ibuprofen) are supposed to be better all round.
  25. I never take time off from work, but I will modify my working practices to allow injuries to heal.
