  1. A lot of people are struggling financially at the moment, this sort of stress can manifest itself in all sorts of ways
  2. Matter of perspective. His opinion carries no weight with me and obviously not you either, but there are plenty who will buy into what he’s offering
  3. Quite possibly all true to one extent or another, he’s a self confessed sexaholic. He’s also being quite vocal lately about a lot of things and has quite a large following….good way to shut him up if you wanted to get all conspiracy theorist about it
  4. A lot of them can seem ok, till they're not
  5. Agreed. They are charging the dog owner from the attack yesterday with manslaughter by the sounds of it
  6. Exactly Missus follows some woman on Facebook who is posting the journey they are currently on with their daughter who was mauled by the family dog. Not sure if it was an XL bully, but was certainly a similar breed. What what I can tell they appear to be a very normal family.
  7. Some Rottweilers can be proper bastards though. A long time ago before i got into tree surgery I worked for a fruit and veg wholesaler. One of the farms I used to stop at once a week had 2 rotties. 1 was on a very long piece of rope but more or less free roaming. The other was kept around the corner..I never did get to see that one. I was made to stay in the van when i first went there, probably for the first 5 or 6 visits, till I was slowly introduced to the dog. Fritz was his name, and eventually he became quite excited to see me. However I was told in no uncertain terms to 'never go round there' where the other dog lived.
  8. As can those who come out with the old ‘it’s not the breed, it’s the owner’ line.
  9. To keep up with new technologies and latest industry developments, family-run ACW Trees in the West Midlands opt to upgrade their woodchipper fleet every three years – their most recent review seeing a GreenMech ArbTrak 200 swapped for TWO machines from the GreenMech EVO series! Owner Adam Willington and his team now have the versatility of a road-tow EVO 165D and track-based EVO 205DT at their disposal and have found the pair to excel in power, maneuverability and fuel efficiency. Following time in the Parachute Regiment, Adam moved into a career in forestry before establishing ACW Trees eight years ago – now undertaking a wide variety of jobs with both domestic and commercial clients with the assistance of his team of two. “Technology in the arb market is changing all the time so when it’s time to upgrade, I’ll go out to the market and research all of the options. What’s noticeable, having looked at the main three manufacturers, is how the build quality of GreenMech’s EVO range now supersedes the competition and, performance-wise, is leading the way” says Adam. The team opted for the EVO 165D, and larger 8” capacity EVO 205DT for optimal flexibility and safe traversal of sloped or uneven ground. Delivering more aggressive torque, bite and throughput, Adam also opted for the optional folding chute on both new machines, delivered in October 2022, which he adds is “ideal for moving the chippers around and safely storing them in the yard or other small, restricted access spaces.” “Like most small businesses, we’re conscious of costs and fuel is a big issue currently. One thing we really liked about the EVO 205DT is the ‘economy mode’ where you set the engine RPM to automatically reduce after a given interval when no timber is being processed which has massively improved our fuel economy.” He continues, “In addition, we’ve found the powerful throw on both machines helps to pack the chips more tightly in the back of the truck meaning we’re making fewer trips to empty, lowering fuel consumption even further.” Adam certainly hasn’t gone easy on the chippers in the nine months since taking delivery, putting them both thoroughly through their paces on all types of terrain. “We’ve had no trouble in getting the EVO’s exactly where we need them – be that up and down steep slopes, wooded or boggy areas and even tracking the 205DT through little streams! The robustness and reliability they’ve given us has been brilliant, and like always, backed up with excellent service and technical support from the GreenMech team.”
  10. If you put your location it will help
  11. I swore i'd never be locked down again, but after hearing about this..
  12. Is it not unusual to find this at the base?
  13. APF 2024 will take place at Ragley Estate on the 19/20/21st September 2024. Around half of the 23000 visitors to the show regard themselves as working in arboriculture. The event is therefore very important for companies working within the arb sector as they have a very targeted audience. At APF 2022 we staged our first tree climbing competition and introduced our new Arb Worker Zone focusing on the needs of the working arborist . We are looking to develop these for APF 2024 and are looking for partners to work with us to make them even more popular, high-profile features. The tree climbing can be one or more events and branded with the sponsors name. It could feature individual and team events and we are looking to make it as exciting and spectator friendly as possible. The Arb Worker Zone, situated in the heart of the static display area, is a mix of technical demos of new machines, equipment and techniques, workshops for technical issues such as machine maintenance, competitions such as line throwing and knot tying and a seminar tent with short presentations on key topics of the day. Exhibition Secretary, Ian Millward commented ‘Both the tree climbing competition and the AWZ are in high profile locations on the showground and are an excellent opportunity to increase a companies brand name and profile in the arb industry. We are looking to work with companies to develop these areas and are happy to discuss ideas with any company wanting to be involved. With 12500 working arborists visiting it is an opportunity not to be missed ‘. For further information please contact Ian on 01428 723545, email:[email protected]. Website: www.apfexhibition.co.uk
  14. Postage is a nightmare. We try to be competetive but generally always lose out if the customer only orders a single item.
  15. so the roots have blocked or damaged the pipe, which exactly is it? Sounds like a chancer to me
  16. Anyone with any sense! This is actually one thing I dislike about the battery saws, it being theoretically possible to knock off the chainbrake and rev the motor with the saw at your side. I suppose the husky model at least had an off off button
  17. You have to remember we are a small industry and stick the word ‘Arb’ in front of anything and it automatically trebles the cost. Oh except websites which seem to be the reverse 😀
  18. Well that just added a couple grand to your £200 device 😀
  19. Last one I went to was quite a few years back and was held at Longleat. Pretty sure it was Confor. It was ok back then but it was definetly more focussed on forestry unlike the APF which almost seemed to be aimed more at Arb this year than forestry. That was a few years back though so who knows what its become now. Don't expect an APF though!
  20. ‘High clipping is amazing’ said no one ever. it’s not a problem, but it’s just not slick. I climbed for 21 years and never felt any sort of chainsaw lanyard set up I tried was perfect. A recoiling lanyard would be quite cool if it worked.
  21. How to mount it to the harness(all makes) i think would be the main hurdle to overcome
  22. Thats what you call cherry picking stats at its finest. I expect if you take the richest parts of Germany out of the equation and then compared Germany to the whole of the UK then you'd get very similar statistics in reverse, or any other European country for that matter. Bit laughable i'm afraid mate.
