At circa 1:35 into this video, a knot is tied. What knot is it?

Looks like an alpine butterfly to me.

I dont tie it that way though, i tie it with 3 wraps around my hand method

Thanks man, but it's not an Alpine butterfly, nor is it an in-line figure eight. It looks like some sort of mix between all of these and a truckers hitch but I've not seen one before and cannot find any reference....

looks like it might be a Bowline on a bight tied midline. I use it to shorten a rope when we're dragging logs out and need to shorten the rope, always unties easily after being heavily loaded where the Butterfly (ime) can be solid.

Found it, in Maryland, USA!

Called a 'circus bowline' or 'farmers loop'. No idea what it's properties/strengths are.

it is a lot easier to undo than an alpine or a bowline on a bight, and a proper truckers hitch is a nightmare on sythnetic rope, it was designed around the old hemp ropes

A Bowline on a Bight (and a plain Bowline, for that matter) can be easily undone, if you insert a small piece of wood/handle as indicated in the attached photo.

the knot tied in the video is a circus bowline / farmers loop / abok1056

 

its similar to an alpine butterfly in that its a midline eye where any part of the rope can be loaded. However it is significantly easier to untie after a heavy load than an alpine butterfly
