560xpg vs 6100

Thanks to shavey (Andrew) for lending me a 6100 earlier. As many will know on here I've had 2 560's and had endless trouble, current one has seized once and mains failed once. (20 odd months old)

The results were surprisingly close with videos of each saw cutting bar length in Douglas, 15" b and c same bar for both saws.

Only had the saw a day but for those wanting a basic comparison see below.

(Will update when we have used it more also when he lends me 5105 to compare to my workmans 550xp)

Pros over 560.

Feels a lot more solid, looks stronger ie 2 springs underneath not one. Easier to remove b and c, starts easier, no autotune. Better quality air filter. Surprisingly fast.

Cons over 560

Slightly heavier, feels more like a 372, not as slimline, doesn't feel as nimble but not used to it.

Seriously considering a 5105 to run alongside the 372.

Hears another idea for you ....Ps 420 sc as a saw by the chipper is a nice option..plus Iv had a few Climbers remark that they would be a "nice option for some limb work up top". They run a 15" .325 full chisel combo real well.

Hey spud I was wondering have you seen that cylinder on any other saw brand

Because Dolmar usually use Mahle but not this time

What sort of gains did you get from this one

I can vouch for the psi this was taken from the saw josh has

I saw it wasn't a Mahle one but guessed Dolmar made it themselves but don't know for sure.

I haven't used the saw as I get grief if I start firing up ported saws but there was a fair bit done and it should go well. Will find out when the owner picks it up and runs it a bit!

Great stuff :thumbup::thumbup:

I think it's a gilardoni cylinder that's why I asked if it was a pattern used by another brand since they used these brand and type of cylinders on some models and they've stepped away from the catalyst converter route and not gone the SLR 7910 way either too get around epa regs

He will be smiling after using for sure :thumbup:

Pete Teagle near you (Josh) went from 560xp to PS6100. Reckon he's more than pleased with the change. Understatement.

Hi mate

Yes I've herd of him. I may got 5105 run alongside 372 rather than 6100 and 372.

As 6100 feels same weight as 372 and not a lot smaller also herd the 5105 is good??

Glad you like the new saw. They get a lot of good reviews on another site I am on. About the only complaint I have read about them was their bulky feeling size, but the length of run time, power, and filtration seem to make their owners happy with the saw. I hope you will provide updates as you get the chance.
