When I repair land drains across fields I can go down around 2 ft looking for pipes and the roots of mairs tail are still not visible. you can spray it with glyphosate with a wetting agent and think you.ve got it, but up it comes again next year, funnily enough it does not seem to spread to much.

I have/had quite a few fields where the mare's tail marks the drains out very well.

the only sure fire way to get it out of your garden is

I've used glyphosate numerous times, a good application and it's gone. Did a local tennis club last year, nothing has come back. Outside the local Stihl dealership, nothing came back. Just up the dosage a bit.
