You might want to buy it off someone else because investing £7k in a kindler is a lot of money, and will take a long time to recover if your not selling a LOT of kindling.

And if you have'nt got aready supply of the right timber, its going to cost you more to make it than to buy it in at the right price.

Buying it in will still give you a healthy profit margin, and allow you to build up that side of the business.

If you are going to go down the route of a machine of your own, then Fuelwoods does take some beating - if you're unsure then hire one of there's for a couple of weeks and see how you get on.

Yep, stake points are more hassle than they're worth (although burn well in a stove in full bits)

Well thanks all for the advise but i still cant get my head around buying kindling of someone else! if your all saying buy them from someone else then he is selling them to say me at a profit so if i produce them myself that means more profit for me.

How can I put this simply...

Do you have a ready supply of raw material, such as perfect scots pine / larch rings, or sawmill offcuts? do you have £7000 +vat to invest in a kindler? Do you expect to supply more than 2000 bags a season?

If you answer no to any of these, then buy it in. Its called wholesaleing, and works for plenty of entrepenuers.

I would buy a kindlett off fuelwood, thats what we started with many moons ago, as I always think its better to produce your own - like you say - keeps a check on quality product etc. And why rent or buy in if your thinking long term - you can start payback your investment straight away.

We are wholesalers - but if you want to setup and get it right straight away - make sure your processor can cut at exactly 6" for the kindlett, and that the wood is pretty much knot free (I know - almost impossible) but sort it as your filling it, keep the knotty bits for logs, keep the good bits for sticks - Larch is v.good, then scots -

Bag supplies for your bags - very good quality, although pay a bit more , good quality bags.

Have you got your truck sorted - got our new transit on the road today
