Ok, I'm IT ignorant.

I downloaded the trial version of Keytree last week, installed it off the exe file and ran it no probs.

After deciding to lease it for three months I got sent the full version. The PC noes tells me it can't run the exe file ( seems this isn't uncommon with Windows 10). I emailed keysoft and got this reply;

· Ensure you are logged on as an Administrative user.

· Click Start > Run > enter “cmd” and click OK

· Type “cd\” and press enter

· Type “cd\Program Files\Common Files\Keysoft Solutions\Licensing” and press enter

· Enter the command “haspdinst –kp –fr –purge” (this checks the drivers have been cleared fully)

· Enter the command “haspdinst –i” (this re-installs the drivers)

Where's the start button on Windows 10? :001_rolleyes:

Does all the above have to be typed in the 'search' box at the bottom left corner of the screen. I'm pretty useless at this sort of stuff:blushing:

If you don't like the look of or can't get on with win 10 you can install Classic Shell. It gives the look of win xp.

Personally I won't upgrade to 10.For anyone else who doesn't want to,you can install Never10.This will prevent automatic upgrades from installing without your permission.

To prevent the annoying pop-ups on win 7 & 8/8.1,you need to remove update KB3035583 from your system then stop it from installing again.

Instructions here.

I'm getting on with W10 okay. IIRC I needed to upgrade to run some new software. It ran trouble free for several months then just started shutting itself down a few weeks ago. I run a system restore, reloaded a few apps and everything come good.

I got into the DOS cmd window, as an administrator, but just keep getting a invalid file path message. Poking around I came across a page that shows all the file associations I.e, what app to run each file type. Exe files aren't shown at all, although I was able to run one to start to load another app.

I deleted the file from the download file and left it downloading yet again last night. It's 1.3 GB so takes a while.

I don't have any real issues with ten, but my wife hates it. I'll show her the shells (for her computer) and see what she wants. I'm IT ignorant but she is definitely flintstone in her ways.

Reloading/downloading the program again, re-installing the drivers for the licensing in the cmd window has finally worked. I'm now running in the wonderful world of CAD
