Another question guys

I have 2 year old oak it hasn't been cut up just felled and the root plate removed , any ideas on the moisture content ? I was thinking around 40% , I'd be hoping to use this wood for door surrounds and joists, any ideas on the ideal moisture level for using a router on the wood

Cheers

i'm willing to bet that other that 6"-12" either end of the log it will still be normal green timber (whatever MC that is) throughout the log.

you can use a router on any moisture content.

As steve said. Log will still be green. If you want to use it for door Linings it will need to milled and seasoned until it gets to about 12 % max. My guess is its close to 50 as it stands. 40mm boards will take around 18 months to get down to this I would think.
