I used to do that on the council round local schools but it was 40 years ago. We used slaked lime and water mixed in a tank on the trailer behind the Land Rover and tip a cap of paraquat in the machine to keep the grass down. It's all done with paint or "fluid" now I believe but the principle must be similar.

We use Bowcom paint, supplied direct from the factory, I also watched a Belfast Council employee, literally "whizzing" round several pitches with their (somewhat under-engineered )ride on trike arrangment.

very impressive

Overmarking is simple and fast.

striking out if the lines are lost, slow and tedious.

Especially if the goal posts are misaligned(not unheard of btw)

ONLY wash the nozzles with detergent or supplied cleaner, NEVER the steel bristle from a wire brush.

sigh!

best machines we use are fleet. if you phone them for a price ask if they have any reconditioned units for sale about half price with new battery and pump 12 months warranty.

Initial marking out takes time and best not to burn the lines in in case you make a mistake burn them in on the first over marking when your happy how it looks.

football rounders rugby javelin throws training throws are straight forward. running tracks can be tricky if its got to fit a tight area.

We have just finished marking out for the athletics season at the schools we do.

one needed a 6 lane 400 meter trackwith 1500 and 800 meter curve, relay boxes different colours, 100 meter straight down one side and numbers on the lanes. it looked good !

pitch care is a good website
